is it possible to use a svn dump and flash it instead of just booting it?
i've had 2 pen drives die while running like this, and would like to flash latest trunk and see if that causes any more problems.

no that easy and it doesn't make much sense to flash a svn version, that's what releases are for.

finding a few bugs and reporting on the most serious.

Just tried the .rootFs on an ubuntu VM via svn from https://svn.wdlxtv.com/svn/1.05.04-wdlxtv/live/trunk/

it boots correctly, but in the Webend, WDLXTV Addons Manager does not give anything under applications/UMSP/Updates
so no svn from devtools.bin (could copy manually to try...)

Any idea?

Yes, you are most likely missing the suid bits on some key files (such as sudo, passwd) and the webend can't save anything.

Look for the rootFS thread. There are some chmod commands that need to be run after checking out to restore those setuid bits.
