physcodad,

I'm new at this so pls bear with me. This is a tremendous app. If I understand correctly, if I use b-rads firmware, I only need to add this app using the instruction that you stated. Do I also need to load the fffmpeg app?

I really want the movie sheets and this app but am apprehensive to do it as I am unsure if I would know how to enable this?

Is it possible, that the plugin has a problem with a Twonkey Media Server (4.4.18)?

correct, you only have to put the autores.app.bin on usb stick together with your customized autores.conf.

i will have a look on this.

I am also having a problem with this app.bin and the playon media server, I haven't had a chance to look into it, but, if I try to play media from playon, lights go off, indicating app.bin is running, after about 30 seconds I get the wdtv loading symbol and can't get past that

updated to version 0.42
- now works with twonky media server (and possibly other media servers)

@Moondiver: how to you stream mkv with twonky 4? do you rename all your mkvs to avi? twonky 5+ has native mkv support i think.

@KAD: i tested the plugin with the playon media server. it works for me (tested with local files). however i do NOT recommend using this media server. the playon server will transcode all your files to mpeg2 @ 480p for streaming to WD TV. if your PC hasn't enough cpu power this can be really really slow. beside this, watching 1080p mkv @ 480p is horrible ;) i suggest you use the "video_modes" setting in autores.conf to set a fixed resolution for all files streamed by this server.

Psychodad, thanks for the update again, I'll try it and let you know. as for playon, I'm using a free trial right now, just starting to look at servers, my only need for a server is to stream hulu, and other internet tv channels, maybe I'll try twonky next

Now the plugins works with Twonky. Thanks.

Btw. Twonky 4.4.x supports MKV since version 4.4.6/7. There is nothing i have to change or rename. The only thing that doesnt work is detection of the framerate based on the filename. Twonky changes the filename for streaming (e.g. http://192.168.3.100:9000/disk/video/O3.mkv, the original name was e.g. Beautiful mind.mkv)

here I am again waiting on the wife and kid to get off my live so that I can try and get you some useful info on this app.bin with internet tv, I tried earlier and still had the same results, loading menu forever

Once they're off I'll try
access wd via telnet/ssh:
1) check contents of file /tmp/autores.log, it should contain something like "patching... all done".
2) during video playback do "cat /tmp/autores.tmp" on console. the file should contain infos about the video and the used resolution.
and post the results

better log script output with the help of the wdtvext plugin (described some posts before). if video detection hangs autores.tmp will never be created.
