Ok I made some progress, even though it's still not working as intended.
I change the settings to "deu", and now I either have subtitles on all the time, or off all the time. So forced still does not work right.
I tracked it down to this:
Code: Select all
subs_foreign="
   $LANG      , full   , internal
#   *          , *      , external
#   *          , *      , internal    #if enabled, has subtitles all the time
"

I tried all sorts of combinations I could think of, forced, optional, full, with "ger" with "deu", you name it, but still no luck.
They are either on, or off.

well at least it's running now

sounds like the last thing to do is to configure the subs, the option should be "forced" if you only want those with forced flags displayed

Yes correct, only trouble now is that nothing changes when I use the forced flag, it acts as if it was ignored. So I'm not sure if I'm really on the right track with this. I'll keep playing a bit with it, if I can come up with any more combinations I can try.

I'd also try under

Code: Select all
subs_native=deu,forced,internal

Yep will do. In my previous tests, entries under subs_native didn't have any effect when playing the movie. Not sure why that is, but then again, I still don't understand when the native settings take effect, and when the foreign ones.
Got some other stuff to do right now, but will for sure post my findings.

Cheers

Alright got this to work finally. Not the way I initially would have liked it, but it works that's the most important.
I believe the problem was with the way the DVD is ripped. I used MakeMKV, and it appears as if the flags for the forced subtitles are not set properly (didn't verify though). So what I'm doing now is, instead of ripping the full subtitles, I only rip the forced ones, and have autores configure to show the full subtitles. This way it works like it should :)

Thanks everyone for the help and suggestions.

Hi, I don't really know what I am doing. I am using WDLXTV 0.4.5.1, I have a full HD Sony Bravia XBR (from 2008) & I use digital audio to an AV receiver. Most of my media is MKVs at 23.9 fps. I want to use autores but i am having a few problems. When I first started using it the a few weeks ago it seemed to be working properly, when I would start a movie the LEDS would go out I would have a black screen for a few seconds (doing media check I presume), then the TV would change modes & away we go. Stop the movie, the LEDS come back on. In the last week or so i have been playing around with moviesheets so I haven't been playing media. Last night I played a few files & straight away I noticed I don't get the pause before playback but the TV is changing modes. One of the files I tried to play is a 720p MKV (23.9 fps) with AC3 sound which displays problems with lipsync, while other files with AC3 soundtracks play OK. Turn autores off the lipsync prob goes away. The other thing that is happening is that now the LEDS don't come back on after stopping playback. The point to all this is that I love what autores does just not sure how best to configure it for my needs. CAn someone please suggest setting that would suit my needs. What setting should I set from webend & what display setting should I use via the WDTV settings menu?

first thought, there's newer firmware 4.5.3 , just make sure you use the one based on 1.02.21, there's 2 versions of 4.5.3

If most of your movies are 23.9fps then set the WDTV to 1080P 24hz, this will reduce the # of HDMI reconfigurations needing done by autores
audio should be set to digital, if your receiver can handle it

as for autores, all the options are on the webend config tool,
but sounds like you have a pretty basic config
make sure autores is enabled
and look through the various options and enable or disable as needed
as for led's not coming back on, there was a bug, but it's been fixed in most recent firmware

Thanks for the reply. OK I missed that there is a 4.5.3 based on 1.02.21. I will do some more tinkering as the wife puts it & report back.

OK downloaded latest 1.02.21 based FW & did a factory reset, but I still have the same problems at this stage.
