I took the liberty to make a small change in the elinks wrapper, because you called elinks.real with a relative path: ./elinks.real. This would work only if your current directory is /apps/elinks/bin. I changed that line to "elinks.real", because the app.bin bin/ folders are added to the PATH when the app.bin is loaded. This way elinks can be called from any path.

Code: Select all
root@Deneb:/root# elinks
/apps/elinks/bin/elinks: line 2: ./elinks.real: not found

Thanks mad_ady!

Hey mad_ady for some reason the version you posted has no libs in the lib directory. When I try to run elinks I get an error looking for the libs. :(

sounds like what mad_ady changed either did not actually get changed or you're still on your version of the app

./elinks.real is relative may not work from where system makes the call
changing to elinks.real should solve the issue because the location is already in PATH

elinks has libraries that it needs. The one on the svn has none in the /lib folder. The one I uploaded that you can download from the first post has libs populated with it's dependencies. But mad_ady still rocks!!! :D

Original lib folder:
Code: Select all
# cd /apps/elinks/lib/
# ls
libcap.so.2         libgpm.so.2         libmozjs185.so.1.0  libplc4.so          libruby1.8.so.1.8   libtalloc.so.2      libwbclient.so.0
libfsplib.so.0      liblzma.so.2        libnspr4.so         libplds4.so         libsmbclient.so.0   libtre.so.5
#

SVN version lib folder:
Code: Select all
# cd /apps/elinks/lib/
# ls
#

You're right, my svn commit somehow missed the lib folder. I added it now and increased the package version. Try to redownload it in a half hour.
Code: Select all
Sending        application.xml
Adding  (bin)  lib/libcap.so.2
Adding  (bin)  lib/libfsplib.so.0
Adding  (bin)  lib/libgpm.so.2
Adding  (bin)  lib/liblzma.so.2
Adding  (bin)  lib/libmozjs185.so.1.0
Adding  (bin)  lib/libnspr4.so
Adding  (bin)  lib/libplc4.so
Adding  (bin)  lib/libplds4.so
Adding  (bin)  lib/libruby1.8.so.1.8
Adding  (bin)  lib/libsmbclient.so.0
Adding  (bin)  lib/libtalloc.so.2
Adding  (bin)  lib/libtre.so.5
Adding  (bin)  lib/libwbclient.so.0
Sending        version
Transmitting file data ...............
Committed revision 228.

This happened a couple of time to me as well (see svn history ;)), it seems that svn doesn't add binary files recursively when you add a dir.
Just make sure svn status shows all the files you need with an A on the beginning of the line.

Thanks for the tip! I thought there was something off with my svn client (it segfaults from time to time).

Hi! I'm really sorry for dragging up an old thread, especially about something fairly unrelated, but I'm also trying to compile elinks with JS enabled, and I cannot find someone with the same problem as me anywhere else on the internet.

When I try to compile elinks manually, I too get this error:

Code: Select all
checking for SpiderMonkey (1.8.5 or later) in pkg-config mozjs185... no
checking for SpiderMonkey (1.8.5 or later) in pkg-config mozilla-js... found but unusable

Did you indeed fix this by compiling SpiderMonkey from source? How did you fix the problem you mentioned before about a lack of a makefile? What version did you use and where did you get it from?

Thank you very much for your help :)

EDIT:
Found the problem. Turns out I was installing the wrong version of SpiderMonkey.
I had been using:
sudo apt-get install libmozjs-dev
but it should be
sudo apt-get install libmozjs185-dev
