TrueCrypt 7.1 [UPDATE]

Postby recliq » Fri May 28, 2010 5:48 pm

Hi,
here's an app.bin of TrueCrypt 6.3a!

Truecrypt 6.3a.app.bin attached the file
As I've recieved no negative feedback yet I hereby declare this as stable...(please don't prove me wrong now ;))

It seems there are quite some poeple using truecrypt out there, which made me wonder
why nobody compiled a version for wdtv. I got curious if there were some mysterious obstacles to get this to compile...
In fact it was quite straight forward and i had no problems compiling it in debian squeeze on the wdtv.

It seems to work quite well during the little testing i made.
I don't use truecrypt myself, just was curious to do this, so it should be declared a BETA version until it's known to work fine. ;)

*EDIT*
This has been out a while now and since i don't use TrueCrypt, i'm really intrested if anyone is actually using this and if it's working correctly. (at least this app was requested by some ppl...)
If there's no feedback on requested apps, I'm not going to put much effort in bringing requested apps to you which I'm not interested in...
Hey! I'm not asking for money or anything just a little feedback! ;)

Brilliant!

I use truecrypt on all my disks, but since they are all on my xmounted xubuntu, I don't need the app on the wdtvl, though it's great that I can if I want!

yea, because it's an app.bin.
## turns off 5V to USB Bus on standby (when you press power off on remote)
## this action is prevented by the following:
## - root.bin active
## - OSD Theme active
## - Optware active
## - app.bin active
## - Deluge or NZBget enabled

You can avoid this with ext3 or .rootFS version. You can copy the binary from /apps to your root filesystem and delete the app.bin from your drive.

Can you explain how exactly that can be done? Or point me to a post that explains it? I'm running the ext3 version, but have no idea where to copy the files.

- boot with truecrypt.app.bin present on drive
- telnet/ssh into box
Code: Select all
cp /apps/truecrypt-6.3a/sbin/truecrypt /usr/sbin/
sync && sync

remove app.bin from drive and reboot/powercycle

Booting from root.bin or .rootFS in your usb drive you got the same situation, usb not power off.

Just came across over it.
Will try it next days and using it. Because my drives are encoded, too. And I felt an app would be very helpful. Thanks in advance!

I tried this. And im getting this:

# cp -p apps/truecrypt/sbin/truecrypt /usr/sbin/
cp: cannot create '/usr/sbin/truecrypt': Read-only file system

I guess i missed something. I tried to CHMOD the usr/sbin. But didnt worked.

Ohh, and btw what dev is the back USB Port?

I tried to Mount my Truecrypt drive, but didnt know the device name.
