Starting a new thread on this, mainly so it can be found

with discussion of some sleep functionality built into sysinfo UMSP plugin

so anyways
sleeptimer.app.bin or I guess you could call it sleep on idle
it's tested and working

Requirements
any WDLXTV firmware
DMAOSD_DEBUG must be "File" or "File + stderr" (first tab in WEC under "system")
if DMAOSD_DEBUG is "OFF" this will not work

Installation
put on root of thumbdrive
set DMAOSD_DEBUG (first tab in WEC under "system" if you've never used this select "File")
reboot
select SLEEPTIMER ON (WEC Apps tab)

Optional
set TIME_TO_SLEEP (WEC Apps tab) default is 600 seconds

Notes
Not compatible with videoscreensaver.app.bin

Good job, KAD! It works! Unfortunately you can't enable/disable the timer by remote. Anyway, thanks for the app!

yeah, was originally thinking about that, but it requires catching key press, which needs wdtvext, the other option is to use sysinfo UMSP plugin in conjunction with this to change the settings and restart the script

for now it's sort of 2 options, this is a set it and leave, sleep on idle
and sleeptimer has the option to force power down in x amount of time

This works great so far but with one issue, it doesn't close out of Netflix when trying to shutdown. If it sent the OK button command a few seconds after the power button command it would go all the way to standby from Netflix. I don't know about most people but Netflix is open about 80% of the time the device is on for me.

does it create a problem to shutdown while still in netflix? or does it not shutdown while in netflix?
since I have a live, I can guarantee my WD has never had netflix open

if there's a problem or enough need, I can inject HOME prior to shutdown

It doesn't shut down properly in Netflix. If Netflix is open and you hit the power button on the remote a screen pops up and asks you if you want to quit Netflix with a yes/no selection screen. When the app tries to power down the wdtv it just stays at this option screen waiting for more input. If the app at this point sent the ok button command it would exit Netflix and power down. Other then that it works.

since I don't have a PLUS I need some info from PLUS netflix users

1. if you push power while in NETFLIX, the popup screen, is the default OK, to leave netflix
or is the default cancel, so it requires 2 key presses??

2. is there any other way out of NETFLIX? is you push HOME does it ask you to exit netflix or does it actually return you to the home screen?
