1. All my usb data get scanned in correctly
2. With a Upnp client like plugplayer (iphone) i can browse the movies/mp3s/...
3. Playing selected MP3's to my WDTVLIVE works fine.
4. Playing selected movies to my WDTVLIVE doesn't work correctly, instead it plays/show the jpeg image (moviesheet DVD cover file)
Why is the movie not played ?

Could be a compatibility issue, as not every client and servers work well together. You will have to contact the MiniDLNA or Plugplayer authors about this unfortunately, there isn't much I can do.

Did you try with Windows Media Player 12 (or another PC-based DLNA client)?

This problem is available on ALL DLNA client, tried it with :
- Plugplayer (iphone)
- MLPLayer (iphone)
- ZappoTV (iphone)
- 8player (iphone)
- XBMC as DLNA client (PC)

- Microsoft Media PLayer(PC) runs ok, all movies are visible (thumbnail) and movie starts when played.

XBMC has the same problem, although on all maps where i removed moviename.jpg, movies is also visible when played. On all other folders size is 0kb (only jpg)

Update: The problem remains with miniDLNA (for movies).
I just found the twonky.app file (0.2) here on the forum, this is running much better than the MiniDLNA software.
- Faster scanning
- Play really every file type (mkv, mp3, avi, ...)
- Show movie instead of wrong jpeg
- When a file is started (ex. mp3 file) the playing info is showed on the TV screen. (If I start an mp3 file through the integrated upnp-cmd soft, this info screen isn"t showed, although i used the meta info, if you look on the web browser page, the playing file is showed correctly). Apparrently these pnp clients can stream much more info to the WDTV than the UPnp-cmd can.
I'm currently using upnp for a new iphone/ipod App.(including local file browsing, moviesheets, gesture pad, ....)

Twonky is version 4.x, did somebody already used a newer version 5.x or 6.x ? Is this also available in .app file ? Or can somebody send the extracted version from the hub ? (or a how-to)
Now i have to start the twonky server via a telnet commando, why isn't twonky available in the app section of the web front end ?
Autostart didn't work, had to restart twonky after powerup.

Re: MiniDLNA 1.0.19.3_CVS-1.4 (23-May-2011)

Postby RMerlin » Mon May 23, 2011 2:16 pm

I just posted MiniDLNA 1.0.19.3-1.4. See initial post for the changelog.

This build is the first to use a new dev environment that I have set up under Scratchbox2 in a Debian VM. This is the same dev environment I have used to recompile Samba 3.5.6 in the recent 0.4.8.0 beta release. You will notice the new build has fewer external libraries as it shares more of the libraries already present in WDLXTV, and others are now statically linked in it.

I am leaving the 1.3.1 release up as well on my website in case this new build creates any issue.

Hello RMerlin,
for me it runs great, but i have one small problem:
if i add my path of my music files within the web-frontend, press the save button, start the server, it works fine.

But after i reboot the box, i can not find any files, and also the "MINIDLNA_DIRS" field in the fontend is empty.
Any idea, why the path could be "lost"?

Copy the minidlna.conf file to /conf, then reboot. From then on, MiniDLNA will use this persistant file for storing its configuration.

Yeah, that was one of the new features of the 1.0.19.3 update from its author :)

is there a possibility to use wildcards on folders?

i have this structure on my harddisk:

\Musik\Album1\
\Musik\Album2\
\Music\Ablum3\
.
.
.

it seems, that it is not enough to put "\music\" into the config-file, but each single folder, which is not a good way.
Any tip?

It should scan all sub-folders - you do not have to enter each folder separately.

Try with and without a trailing slash, see if it makes any difference.

i did not managed it.
I get the error messeage "There were problems while copying files. " if i try to copy the file with the webend file manager from "/apps/minidlna" to "/conf".

Maybe it is not allowed to write there?
