Hi there,

I´ve got problems to configure my minidlna in webend browser.

I installed B-Rad WDLXTV 5.1.4. After this I put the objects from minidlna folder onto my USB-Stick. After reboot I found minidlna on Webend Browser (green light).
Now, I tried to configure minidlna on webendbrowser.

In MINIDLNA_DIR I wrote down like this:
/tmp/media/usb/USB2/325220A852207331/Music/. The number I took from Webendbrowser mainpage.

Now, I have issues to find and copy minidlna.conf. In webend browser there is the path /tmp/minidlna. I´m right that´s the path from USB-Stick not internal memory of WDTV?

Can someone tell me how to copy minidlna.conf to the right place step to step? (I´m really newbie).

Ok, one mistake I found now: I activated early mounting but did not use the path in MINIDLNA_DIR. I will correct it.

As written in the first post, you must copy it to /conf for it to survive reboot.

1) Telnet or SSH to your device, and run the next three commands.
2) cp /tmp/minidlna/minidlna.conf /conf
3) config_tool -s
4) sync && reboot

Or:

1) FTP to the device
2) download /tmp/minidlna.conf
3) upload it to /conf
4) Go to the web interface, and reboot the WDTV

If your ftp client refuses to upload to /conf upload to /tmp/conf.
Make sure to wait a minute or two after you uploaded the file before you reboot the device to make sure the config got saved.

Hi,

now I tried to copy minidlna.conf.
in telnet client:

cp /tmp/minidlna/minidlna.conf /conf

I got the message: cannot stat '/tmp/minidlna/minidlna.conf':No such file or directory.

I started File Manager, changed to folder /tmp.
There is only files.db and minidlna.log

But I found minidlna.conf under /conf and copied it to conf

1) try this (maybe RMerlin got the first location wrong since he stated a different path in his first post)
It's also important to have the / at the end of the command!
Code: Select all
cp /tmp/minidlna.conf /conf/

2) It's just /tmp not /var/tmp I think.

Your minidlna.conf would be in the /tmp directory not the /var/tmp directory.

Also, from the first post;

You CANNOT use a location in /tmp/media/usb/USB* if you expect this to start at boot.
You should be using: /tmp/mnt/325220A852207331/Music/

Hi recliq,

is it possible to use MiniDLNA with xmount mounted drives?
My media data is on Windows shares and I've mounted it over xmount.
Maybe trough symbolic links?

Never tried, not sure if this will work...
Why not setup a mediaserver on the windows machine?

I'm not sure if i should install one at my Windows 2011 SBS....
Wich one do you prefer? One Client will be a Denon AVR-1912.

My problem on WDLXTV is, that I can't find the shares (xmounts) at /tmp/mnt/....
It's only at /tmp/media/.... wich isn't mounted early enough :-(

To get the device mounted early you need to create an empty file .mnt in the root of the drive. This can easily be done in WEC (Main Tab, EarlyMounts).
It should then be mounted to /tmp/mnt/<UUID>.

This is already mentioned in the first post:
Known issues
  • You CANNOT use a location in /tmp/media/usb/USB* if you expect this to start at boot. You MUST enable early mounting (.mnt) from the webend.
