Hello everyone,

After various tries, none of the above worked for me.
I tried in this order: the .bin
the cp commands + config_tool
the rm-f

In the end, I ended up doing this:
I have connected through telnet to the WDTV then I input the following:
cd /conf
htpasswd wdlxtv WDLXTV-Webend wdlxtv so that I could manually reset the password

It worked for me, maybe it will help others ;)
Thank you for the tool and the help provided by the way ;)

I have installed the b-rad 0.5.0.0 fw and i try to change the web interface password but from that moment i CAN'T log in to the web interface.

I try reset from the hole of wd tv live, your file "wdtvhack.app.bin" on usb root factory defaults, return to original 1.06.15 and back to b-rad 0.5.0.0 but still I CAN'T log in to the web interface of b-rad 0.5.0.0

Please help me to find a solution.

thanks.

Trying to download the file, get "Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data." when trying to grab the file from the OP.

Any help, could really use this :)

I'm totally stuck.
Tried with the utility (on a USB key EXT3 formatted) but no way at all.
I cannot login in telnet/SSH neither on Webend.

Could a firmware reinstall help?
Please help me!!!!!!!!!
Thanks

^ Same here.

Needed to log in to telnet but forgot the password that i set over a year ago. So i use the 'wdtvhack.app.bin' file & now I cant even log in through webend.

The username & password was default: wdlxtv/wdlxtv, that doesnt work now. I've tried username: wdlxtv & password: hackme & that doesnt work so god knows what it is now.

Total stuck & quite unhappy.

Has anyone got any ideas? With I updated firmware reset all the passwords?

I confirm that the supplied utility doesn't work for me.
Only solution I found is to put the following commands:

Code: Select all
rm -f /tmp/conf/*
config_tool -s
config_tool -s

in the S00custom-options file on a USB drive (ext3 formatted, but not sure if this is mandatory). Then attach the key to the wdtv and reboot.
Telnet password should now be blank again.

Just for the sake of completeness, if you don't know how to ext3-format a USB key (maybe you just have a Windows box), try a "live" Linux distro (the latest Ubuntu 11.10 beta 2 for example will do) allowing you to boot directly off the DVD (so no need to install anything).
Then use GParted to format the USB key as you like/need.

Well I tried this tool and all it did was make my webend unaccessable. Now I can't connect through telnet or the webend.
I tried adding the rm /tmp/conf line, but that didn't seem to work either.

Any help guys?
