I've now updated wdtvhack.app.bin to reset also the web password, so i guess we'll have less misunderstandings in future.

acually, it does it *now* correctly (just uploaded a new version)

so BOTH the ssh/telnet and the webend passwords are reset to user 'root' and pass 'hackme'

whoops, forgot to set read permissions on the FTP

now fixed, the file is reachable.

something I just noticed, current version of this changes the webend userid to :root

this is not recommended, the webend user id should be : wdlxtv

b-rad once told me that the password change feature will not work if user id is not wdlxtv

may I recommend an update so that webend will be set to wdlxtv:hackme

I have some problem using this tool.

Before I used this file I had an access to webend, but no telnet access (dunno whats wrong I'm sure I dint change standard blank password).
After using this file I don't have access to webend and no telnet access using default passwords hackme from first post (To be specific i use webend login wdlxtv, and for telnet: root).

I'm using 1.02.21_WDLXTV.COM_WDLXTV_LIVE-0.4.7.3 - tried to log in to frontend using firefox, opera, and chrome (so I don't think its browser related).
For telnet access I'm using putty from official website.

He recently changed the default usernames used by this reset tool. Make sure you download a recent copy of it, and refer to the first post in this thread for the appropriate login information.

Hi thx for fast reply. I have downloaded tool from first post and also I'm using pass/login from the same place - still same problem with access to webend and using telnet.

EDIT: Good! Its working now... I'm not sure why this tool didn't work, but for all who seek help with similar issue can just copy S00custom-options file on blank usb drive, then add this lines:

cp -f /etc/passwd.orig /conf/passwd
cp -f /etc/shadow.orig /conf/shadow
config_tool -s && config_tool -s

After this you really have default password in your wdlxtv (webend: wdlxtv/wdlxtv, telenet: root/<blank> - it don't even ask for password first time when login using telnet)
