No problem - basically just trying to figure out if it's possible to set up another port to access webend on rather than 80, so for instance you would go to http://my-domain.dyndns.org:8001 (8001 being the alternate port number).

I'm working on adding webend integration to ddclient (basically to be able to configure it through webend); I'll see about adding an option there to turn on "alternate routing" to a different web port for your situation.

bolts4breakfast,

I've uploaded a new version of ddclient that should solve your issue. After installing the new version, click on the link in web frontend for ddclient and click on the link that says "if you can't access your WDTV outside your home network...". This will let you set up web frontend on port 8081, which (hopefully) your ISP doesn't block. Let me know if this works for you.

hey guys, just want to point out this possibly not obvious bit: there is an open UPnP server running exposed on wdtvl's, which if you don't filter ports will allow any remote user to control your wdtvl. So only forward ports you need and don't DMZ a wdtvl unless you know what you're doing. :ugeek:

Hi

How to install ddclient in my WDXLTV ?
I copy ddclient.app.bin in WDXLTV /apps

and run Telnet:
/apps/ddclient.app.bin, and WDXLTV say:
line 336:syntax error: unexpected "("

Sorry for my English, i am Russia.

How do you do it? You read the README file that came with it and follow the instructions. :/

Good point, b-rad - I'm guessing most people aren't familiar with port forwarding and will only set up the ones I mentioned in the guide on the Wiki, but I'll add something to the guide as well about (basic) network security.

How access from the outside my WDXLTV ?
Account in dyndns.org create.

When I want to get access my WDXLTV outside ?
How change defauls port 80 in WDXLTV, my modem answers too port 80 ?
File ports.conf read only, and i not change "Listen 80"
