this is most likely because the app.bin is an ext2/3 image, if you powercycle or just powercut the device there might be some unsynced diskbuffers... do a couple of sync's before cutting power and prefer the reboot command over powercycling.
this refers to any ext3 images (ext3-live root.bin, .rootFS, ext3 app.bins)

I tried do it and found an answer here but can't find.
I would really appreciate your help!

I had gotten it working, but for the fact that I have to restart twonky executing the twonkyctl restart command after WDLXTV boots and stabilizes.
Here is the procedure
- Download the zip file containing the twonky.app.bin
- Put it (twonky.app.bin) in the root directory of the USB disc which is attached to your WDLXTV
- Powercycle your WDLXTV
- Once WDLXTV reboots and stabilizes, check if twonky is running well - browse to http://ip-address-of-your-wdlxtv:9000/ - if it brings you the page, then you have it running. If not, start a telnet window and execute twonkyctl restart
- You can configure twonky from the page I mentioned above.
- Enjoy (I am really enjoying it)

Thank you very mach!
I am enjoying it too!

I use twonkymedia server on my wdlxtv to watch avi on TV (philips 7605). But I've got a problem, rewind (forward and backward) doesn't work for avi (for music files it works). I try to use homemediaserver installed on my PC, rewind on TV works.
Please help me!
Maybe I should change the settings in wdlxtv or twonkymedia.

Thanks!

Thanks for this DLNA server, but unfortunately, it needs a registration key to work more than 30 days....

Is there an opensource/freeware alternative to twonkymedia that could be implemented into WDTV live ? (i heard abour ushare...)

Also I found that TMS has been updated, latest version is here : http://www.twonkyforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=7653

there is indeed ushare server. it is used a lot in Realtek 1073/1280 based mediaplayers.
There is even one made for Xtreamer to serve notifications of ip-stream-channels from file.

http://drop.io/Xtreamer_iptv/

It is all Mips so the binary should work, it does need among others libixml library.

look for
Xtreamer_iptv_0.4.2.zip

and source is also available at the same site.

libs, if they are not there could be used from firmware of Xtreamer. ( Google for that )
a howto to extract firmware for Realtek Based players is described here:

This might sound like a silly question, please pardon the newb....

Whats the advantage of installing twonkie on the wd? I installed twonkie on my pc so that I can stream media from my pc to the wdtv thru Upnp. Does installing twonkie on the wd allow me to access local media? What are others using it for?

Did anyone test ushare on the WDTVLive?
Another alternative is minidlna, also available for the Xtreamer eTrayz nas.
I use it to stream 720p/1080p mkv to both my Samsung TV and Samsung Blu-Ray HDD combo, for whenever I don't feel like using the WDTVL :-)
