Is this something in the works or an old remnant of something long forgotten?

twonkymedia server works perfectly for me, but I have to launch it manually at each reboot.
Is there a way to launch it automatically? Is there a user startup script and a shutdown script where I can handle my own stuff? I also wonder where to put the pid files. Is there a way to make my services appear in the webgui?

You can get twonky from http://www.twonkyforum.com/unsupported/4.4.18/
I used http://www.twonkyforum.com/unsupported/4.4.18/twonkymedia-mipsel-glibc-2.3.2-4.4.18.zip (uclibc version doesn't work)
Once started, the web interface is accessible through http://wdtvlive:9000/

Thanks for the info!

Auto startup should not be that big a deal. I'll work on it later today after I grab the stuff you posted.

hi!
i created an app.bin of twonkymedia server
http://itb0002a.itb.uni-oldenburg.de/wdtv/live/twonky.app.bin-0.1.zip
it will be started at boot time. do disable type:
Code: Select all
config_tool -c TWONKY='OFF'

to control from commandline type:
Code: Select all
twonkyctl <start|stop|restart>

the default database folder is /tmp/twonkymedia.db
for large media archives, it will be better to store the database on a stick/harddisk

The app.bin works great.

Does the software require a license though? Seems to work without one even though the config screen has a place to enter one.

I've been using twonymedia on my Droid and as fas I know it is a free app.

Wow, I love this info and I will test it soon. What is meaned by "uclibc version doesn't work"? On my Fritzbox 7270 I have implemented other libfiles from an earlier Fritzbox an I'm able to also use the 5.x versions. Perhaps I can also use this method for my WD.

awx, you can make the default db located on the same device as the app.bin by utilizing the environmental variable AROOT in your init.d script. Its set to the path where the app.bin resides for purposes just like this ;) You should also get people into the habit of using init.d scripts to start/stop/restart, since thats how most of the rest of the system is done too. Might as well start peeps off with the best of habits since they (probably) don't know any better :geek:
