New release! this adds seek and its easy to compile also for MIPS target using emdebian (miniunpnc is included statically)

any idea if it will ever get inside the official firmware distribution?

if not i'll just pack an app.bin of it

ciao!

We discussed putting this into firmware, but since it is a lot larger than upnp-cmd and we have quite some space issues on newer base firmwares, it doesn't seem to get included by now. I'd suggest making it an app.bin for now.

However I really like this prog because it's so fast compared to upnp-cmd.
But I'm also missing some things... maybe it's possible to implement these?

- automatic detection of media renderer port if none is specified (like localhost is used when no ip/host is given)
- get/set Volume and Mute

Cheers,

I don't know how feature-complete it is compared to upnp-cmd, but if you're bundling it in an app.bin, you could look at making a wrapper for it that could be mounted on top of upnp-cmd, and act as a compatible replacement for it.

If you have a working and patched version of mkcramfs on your WDTV (eg. provided by devtools):
Code: Select all
mkdir -p /tmp/avr/bin && wget -O /tmp/avr/bin/avremote http://ftp.dyne.org/avremote/binary/avremote-0.2.mips && chmod 755 /tmp/avr/bin/avremote && mkcramfs /tmp/avr /tmp/avremote.app.bin

then copy /tmp/avremote.app.bin to your USB drive. :ugeek:

sounds like you are using the wrong mkcramfs... if you create the app.bin on a std. linux instead of wdtv you have to add -b 16384 or use the patched version from b-rad. Working mipsel (WDTV) version can be found in devtools.app.bin.

looks good from here...

anyways instead of debugging this step by step maybe just try this one: avremote.app.bin
