Well, I commited a patch to SVN to allow users to turn off HTTP Authentication for specific IP addresses. This would allow a smartphone running this app to control the webend remote.

Code: Select all
adrianp@frost:~/development/wdtv-1.05/plus/trunk$ svn commit -m "Added WEBEND_NO_AUTH option to allow unauthorized access from specific IP addresses (useful for some Android remotes)"
Sending        bi2/share/webend/webend/addons/config/wdlxtv_options.php
Adding         etc/apache2/conf.d/access-override.conf
Sending        etc/apache2/sites-available/default
Sending        etc/init.d/S66apache2
Transmitting file data ....
Committed revision 687.

Try to put your phone's IP in WEBEND_NO_AUTH variable.

If you run the latest firmware (currently 0.5.2.0), you can log on the webend -> Config Manager. If you're running an older firmware you won't find the option

Also, inside the app you can long-press on the wdtv and tick the wdlxtv checkbox and check you have the correct credentials

Which button did you press to get that warning? I want to test it as well.

Ok, I played with this a bit and did a packet capture and it seems the android app does not send credentials for webend auth and receives 401 error, but doesn't understand it.
You can workaround the problem by setting WEBEND_NO_AUTH to your private ip that you have on your phone.
So,
1. Make sure you have the same ip address given to you by your router (static DHCP)
2. Enter the webend on the wdtv from your pc -> configuration manager -> Webend and type your ip next to WEBEND_NO_AUTH
3. Click save and reboot the wdtv
4. Try again with the app and it should work

@JulioJS: I'm not sure if you're still maintaining this wonderfull app, but if you still are, I have a new feature proposition for you.

Now that firmware 0.5.2.1 has been released, the webscreenshot.app.bin should work fine on Live/Plus devices (and we're still working to bring it to Gen3 as well), I think a great new feature for your app would be to have the ability to see the output of the app.bin (the OSD screenshots) directly in your app as you're navigating. This would allow easy navigation and feature selection when operating the WDTV without a TV open.

Let me know if you need help (I will supply the URLs needed to fetch the images).
