[solved] WDLXTV1.01.77-0.4.5.3 - Doesn't recognize rt3572sta

Solution for problem below is to copy all necessary files to root of one of the disks and keep it plugged in at all times
---
Flashed the new firmware version 4.5.3 yesterday and bought the Linksys (Cisco) WUSB600N v2 dual band 300n USB stick.

Stick: VID:v1737 PID:0079 (rt3572sta). What I did:

1) Modified net.config by unhashing everything relevant and inserting the right chipset in the equation.
2) Flashing new firmware with new net.config
3) Plugging in USB WiFi stick

Symptoms: no life at all, no light, no IP address.

My questions;

1) Is there something I forgot to do?
2) Does this have anything to do with the 300n of dual band?
3) What can I do to fix it? :P

It would be very nice if you also post how you solved this issue.
This would help other users running into the same problems.

Just saying [solved] in the heading without telling anyone how you did this is kind of senseless on a forum that is intended to help others.

Hi recliq, you are right. I posted the solution above the post, but it's easy to read over it, so here it is (probably a newb-solution)

[solution]
The WDTV has to boot with a USB device that has net.config and preferably other files in the root. This way the drivers loads automatically on startup.

Also some other tips (the lack of documentation has really cost me some hours, but WOW what a great piece of firmware)
1) Don't use spaces in the net.mounts filenames. To access a share on the network place the net.mounts file inside /conf/ and do a hard reboot. First test it by telnetting:
# xmount "//192.168.1.103/MOVIES_1" "MOVIES_1" cifs "user=ROMAN,pass=PASSWORD"

2) To activate samba server, change s00configuration file and reboot with it
3) It's really handy to further access the USB drive and all files in root through your laptop and change them to try things out

Good luck to all non-devs like myself, it takes a lot of time trying stuff out, but it IS rewarding!

Hi Roman, may you kindly paste your net.config. I've been struggling my box with rtl8187L chipset but my adapter wont light.
Thanks
