After upgrade G2-0.4.7.3 WDTV DEAD

Postby marlborosat » Thu Mar 31, 2011 10:39 am

Hello, I have to upgrade the firmware from 0.4.5.3 to 0.4.7.3, after the procedure was restarted and it stops after the WD logo. I tried but I just telnet. ssh if I try to "cd" hangs the connection. I tried to rename the wdtvhd.bin in emergency-wdtv.bin and created a file emergecy-flash, flash part of the procedure but remains at 0%. I do not know what to do ... Help

Sorry for my bad english

Same here. Upgrading from 4.5.3, now stuck at the WD logo. Any way to recover or is the WD a brick?

i've pulled the G2 downloads due to these two comments.

There isn't anything that should be causing this, but until I have time to investigate its best that it be removed.

Using an old version of ext3-boot-g2 should get you back in order.

Also the G2. After pressing the reset for 10sec I got it into recovery mode and loaded the 4.5.3 firmware.

I had the same issue when upgradeing from 0.4.1.9-6 to 0.4.5.3. It turned out to be the USB flash drive I was using. It worked fine for everything else but for some reason it was no good for flashing my WDTV-G2. Once I switched to another flash drive I was able to restore 0.4.1.9-6 using the emergency recovery mode and then flash 0.4.5.3 without issue. Try flashing back to 0.4.1.9-6 using the recovery mode and then flash to 0.4.7.3 using a different flash drive that has been formatted FAT32.
