it would be possible to use a dual band adapter and select somehow the 5ghz band? (wusb600n)
the adapter blinks but it won't work. it's the version 1 rt3572. the dwa140 works great.

Hello,

i have Edimax nano USB Adapter. I tried modeprobe and automatic but it will not work. Here is my config:

##  then uncomment the line below and the driver will
##  be automagically detected. You still *HAVE TO* set
##    WIRELESS=TRUE  or  WIRELESS=FALSE
##  along with any network settings you require
#
#network-device-detector

## *************************************
## to load a network driver manually if you know its driver
## enter the modprobe statement below
## to find which driver network-device-detector selected for you
## grep net.config /tmp/messages.txt

You should comment one of your two "DHCP=yes" entries out, though this will probably not fix your problem.

Yes of course. I did so but it is not possible to use TP-Link TL-WN821N, Edimax nano or Logilink USB WLAN-Adapters. :-(

hi all,

this thread is rly old, but i give it a try. i have a WDLXTV_0.4.5.3. flashed Gen2 WDTV and i'm still using this box until some genius guys finally will jailbreak the apple tv gen 3 (with 1080p support).

until then, i want to connect with my homeserver over wifi. for this i got a very cheap wifi stick with this vid pid: 0x0bda / 0x8178
its a realtek 300n cheap usb dongle.
its not listed in the list on the first post, but i thought there might be a way to get this thing running.

could someone spend 5 mins to explain and help me out? do i have to flash my wdtv again with configured net.conf?

big thnx in advance and i hope there is one reader left ;)

if it's not listed as supported, then it will not work

thnx kad, i'm trying to get a supported one.

but could you give me a quick (rly quick) briefing how to enable the wlan stick?
- i already have a WDLXTV_0.4.5.3. flashed Gen2 WDTV
- never used Wifi before on this thing
- just insert a stick (empty) with only the net.conf file and hard-boot (un and replug power cord)
- than it should work?
- do i have to keep the usb stick with the conf file all the time or is this just a one-time plug?

- big thnx to you if you can give me just some advices. never found a good how to on the gen 2.

I can't really guide you on this one, I never owned or ever played with a gen2

but if it's like any other WDLXTV
you need to keep the usb stick with net.config
and the wifi dongle plugged in
if the net.config is correct a hard reboot, should enable it
