1.05.04_0.5.1.1 WDLXTV - won't turn on again after turn off

hi all

first of all, i have to say how much i appreciate the work you are doing here - you rock, and please keep it on

now, to the issue - actually it's the same issue i was facing when with the original firmware. the reason i updated was mainly this, because otherwise i was fine with the official one, but now i'm not going back anymore

so basically i'm sure you're familiar with the problem: i turn the device off with the remote, and it turns off, and there's no turning it back on. the LED comes up, shines nicely, but on the TV it just says no signal, and nothing happens, ever. Only if i remove the power cord and put it back again can i bring it back to life.

I was hoping this new fw would finally do away with that problem - it is SO annoying to get up every time and do the power cycle - and more importantly, you have to explain to certain female beings in the house that THIS is the way to go. And they would naturally do not accept this and complain about what a crappy piece of whatever i got myself.

The version i have is 0.5.1.1 I checked the settings and found stuff about deep sleep, and usb power turnoff and i set every combination now, but to no avail. It turns on, i turn it off with the remote, and bam, no turning back, ever.

i have it hooked up to my router via ethernet. No USB devices, no nothing, just an ethernet and an HDMI to my tv (and audio to the amp). That's it. The TV is an LG LCD tv, not the newest type, but works fairly well.

is there anyone who can help me? Is there a combination of settings that would resolve this?

besides trying the different power settings, there's no specific fix for this, this is a very rare issue

if fact, I've only heard of it once or twice
personally, I've started to experience this, and I've had my device a long long time
and have not changed firmware in quite some time

I've also in conjunction with this started to have some overheating issues with my device
which may be causing this

besides making sure your WD is not overheating

If the led turns on after sleep, but you don't get video out, you can try to see if you can still access the device via the network. One workaround would be to add reboot to your POWER_UP events, so that when it wakes up, it will automatically reboot. It will take longer to restart, but it would be automatic.

this reboot after powerup thing is a great idea, may become a workaround - i will just need to see how i can implement it.

Use the webend -> WDLXTV Config -> Power Actions -> POWER_UP Events and add reboot as a command to be executed.

now i don't know what happened, but for the last couple of days the issue does not turn up anymore.

i have added the reboot command into the device as instructed, but i don't really see it happening. After turning off and back on, it seems like a "warm" start, the screen comes immediately (as it should, by the way), so i'm not sure if the reboot is actually performed.

but nevertheless, i'm happier now

It doesn't seem like it's rebooting. You'd have to check the logs and see why...
