I successfully downgraded to 1.02.21:0.4.7.31 - and it looks like the problem has gone away. I have turned the unit off, and off at the wall four or five times since the downgrade and the HDD is now consistently found. Youtube subscriptions still works, so I'm a happy and content camper. I have never used the 'eject HDD' button, with this or any previous WDLXTV versions. Thanks.

Still not working for me but I'm determined to solve it instead of downgrading.
My powerdown action:
Code: Select all
umount /dev/sda1; umount /dev/sda2; eject /dev/sda;

I can see my two partitions if I reboot. Then I turn off and on (with the remote) and it won't recognize the hd (it's a Western Digital 500gb 2.5") anymore.

Here's the directories I see if I SSH into the WDTV when it doesn't recognize the drive (I can't see it on the OSD):
Code: Select all
/tmp/media/usb/EXT3 <--- I can see files on my EXT3 partition, move them, make dirs etc.
/tmp/media/usb/USB1/EXT3 <--- same as above
/tmp/media/usb/FAT <--- I can see files on my FAT32 partition, move them, make dirs etc.
/tmp/media/usb/USB1/FAT <--- same as above
/tmp/media/usb/USB1/C51B-4C93 <--- an empty dir
/tmp/media/usb/USB1/a4ffbad6-7a8f-418d-868f-d755c9f3158b <--- an empty dir

I removed my .wd_tv folders from both partitions.
fdisk -l output:
Code: Select all
* a bunch of Disk /dev/sigmblock*, saying Disk /dev/sigmblock* doesn't contain a valid partition table <--- '*' is a letter from a to k*
Disk /dev/sda: 500.0 GB, 500074283008 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 60797 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes

   Device Boot      Start         End      Blocks  Id System
/dev/sda1               1       48631   390628476  83 Linux
/dev/sda2           48632       54710    48829567+  c Win95 FAT32 (LBA)
/dev/sda3           54711       60797    48893827+ 83 Linux

My /dev/sda3 is a truecrypted partition. Always been there and never gave trouble with previous WDLXTV firmwares.

Here's the directories I see if I SSH into the WDTV when it does recognize the drive (I can see it on the OSD):
Code: Select all
/tmp/media/usb/USB1/C51B-4C93 <--- my FAT partition
/tmp/media/usb/USB1/a4ffbad6-7a8f-418d-868f-d755c9f3158b <--- my EXT3 partition

These are all missing now:
Code: Select all
/tmp/media/usb/EXT3
/tmp/media/usb/USB1/EXT3
/tmp/media/usb/FAT
/tmp/media/usb/USB1/FAT

fdisk will output the same as above.

I'm not sure what else to do, seems that the partitions aren't mapped to the correct dirs (the ones with the UUID name, is that what it's called?).
My UNIX knowledge pretty much ends here :?

Need help!
Thanks

Anyway, I'm not sure the WDTV marks a drive as "dirty".
If I reboot it, it sees the drive (let's say drive A). Then I turn it off without ejecting drive A with the remote.

I turn it back on and it won't recognize drive A nor any other drive I plug in, so the drives aren't marked as "dirty", but the WDTV has some config messed up until I reboot.

Any hints on what to do?
