[SOLVED] B-Rad's firmware combined with OSD

Postby topdawg25 » Tue Mar 13, 2012 9:12 am

Hi There,

I was wondering if it is possible to combine Lilibabe's Live skin OSD into B-Rad's firmware so that the OSB.bin is not present on an external drive or thumb thus allowing for the USB_POWER_OFF function to work. I would be nice to have this as an option of custom firmware to better the look of the system overall.

B-Rad --- Excellent Firmware
Lilibabe --- Excellent OSD

B-Rad + Lilibabe --- the best of both worlds and an amazing firmware for everyone

BTW - great job guys.

James

Sorry if this is a repeat or stupid question!

Will this fw update allow for the USB_POWER_OFF function to work?

Thank you

i suppose yes [at least that's what have been reported]. but you will have to use
custom power off script which eject drive before power off. search forum for related
topic with needed command. i'm not using that function as my media are mounted
from network storage.

Perfect. I am already using custom umount and eject script to disconnect my drive. One other question, if I want to use a background other than the green where would I upload it ?

I'll be flashing my player in about 1 hour. I'll post with how everything went.

Thanks again,

James.

I can say that this is just what I was looking for. I have custom firmware with and beautiful OSD with all of the functionality that I wanted.

OSD mounted direct into the firmware, custom umount and eject scripts and the ability to power down the HDD on power off. Slight modifications to the dienuser XML file for thumbgen.

Thanks everyone great system.

glad to that!

if you want custom background then edit startup script /tmp/conf/S99user-script

#!/bin/sh
cp /tmp/media/somePath/YourCustomBackground.jpg /tmp/
mount -o bind /tmp/YourCustomBackground.jpg /osd/images/villa_bg.jpg

you can do this after telnet to box using mc + F4 or nano
