Thanks RMerlin for your suggestion. Much appreciated.

So far, I am liking the 0.5.1.1 version.

As I thought initially, it is not Autores issue.

I am using the following settings to convert Panasonic lumix's 720p Quick Time jpeg .mov videos

Code: Select all
mencoder.exe -ovc xvid -vf scale=960:544 -ofps 29 -xvidencopts fixed_quant=4 -oac mp3lame -lameopts abr:br=112 -noskip -srate 48000  -o "%AVI%" "%MOV%"

Now I have to figure out trans-coding to H.624 codec

Chrisse wrote:Hello, I just upgraded from the 1.03.49 baseFW to this 1.05.04 - 0.5.1.1 firmware. I did this because I wanted to use the autores functionality (http://wiki.wdlxtv.com/Difference_between_BaseFW).

But now I have no clue how to activate it. In the config options file I turned on the function "AUTORES=ON". but that doesn't seem to work(no visual difference in panning motion, or LED's that go out) I also downloaded and installed the autores plugin (http://forum.wdlxtv.com/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=897&hilit=autores) but that also doesn't work.

Can anyone give me a hand?

thx!

The option was added by WD, therefore you can access it through the remote, not the web interface. Go to your Video Settings, when you set the video output it will get you through 3-4 pages, one of the last ones will ask you if you want automatic resolution switching.

Don't use that autores plugin, it was for (much) older versions of WDLXTV.

Thank you, RMerlin; that explains a little bit.
I've also just upgraded to 1.05.04 / 0.5.1.1 (from 1.02.21 / 0.4.5.3 though). But I couldn't find a setting for the front LEDs. They are not turned off when movie is playing. Any suggestions on that?

And what about "enhanced standby"? I've read in the wiki that this is a feature in older kernels. Do I really have to pull the plugs on my WDTV and my USB-drive when I turn it off now?

@yahoooo: You can flash 0.5.1.1 with the kernel (fff file) from 0.4.7.3 and it will support advanced standby (as stated in the wiki). I have tested it on a live and it works as expected.

If the filename says EXT3, then it means you got the non-Flash version, which is not what you want. You want a flashable version.

LED control was a feature of the WDLXTV-custom autores feature. I don't think there's any alternative so far for the 1.05.04 BaseFW.

If you're a command-line type of guy, get x264. I don't remember what input format/containers it accepts however, it's been couple of years or two since I've played with it. There are plenty of Windows frontend for it however.

1.05.18 means you have a WDTV Live Streaming. That model is not supported by WDLXTV.

Since upgrading to this version I am having issues with turning the device on and off (standby). I power it off. Turn it on later during the day. It blinks once and turns off. I have to manually unplug the device for it to get out if standby mode. Anyone having the same issues?
