Thats quite a bold (but true) statement you make in reference to absolutely nothing, out of the blue, with no context...

Have any other facts you'd just like to scream out while you're at it? :P

Wait... What he's talking about sounds vaguely familiar to me.

Now where have I read something similar...

Ok, a bit detailed description. :)

There is possible to setup nfs mounts through the /conf/net.mounts. And player able to mount them ok during bootup process. But in UI these mounts should be displayed under "Local drive" option, which not appears unless you have some local drive/stick plugged in. So no local drives - no NFS shares access. Is this normal behaviour for 1.03.49_V-WDLXTV-Live-0.4.7.3?

Yes, it's normal behavior.
The Local media menu entry does not appear untill you connect a physical drive. There is a special kernel module under testing that would trick the wd into thinking a usb stick has been inserted, but it is not part of the firmware yet...

b-rad and I were sarcastic because a) it's documented in the README b) it's documented in the Wiki c) it's in many posts on this forum, d) we had to answer that very same question on another post no later than yesterday.

That was a report of possible bug, as I've not read through the README carefuly. Ok, stop flaming and close this thread.

I think, its better to have look on another thread, with CIFS authentication issue described: http://forum.wdlxtv.com/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=4504#p36244
I also had that issue on official firmware (1.04.10_V)

If the issue happens with the official firmware, then there's not much that we can do. I bet the issue has to do with the way login credentials are saved by the firmware - it might have trouble reading them back from the XML file it saves to if it contains some non-alphanumerical characters, since WD saves them in plain text, with no form of escaping whatsoever. That part is all done in the closed-source component of the firmware. Have a look at the /conf/account_listing.xml file.
