MAC attached storage

Postby mmthomas » Fri Sep 24, 2010 1:21 pm

I have a MAC (OS10.4) with an attached firewire disc (not USB). Logon to the mac with username and password does work.

WDTV recognizes a folder with the name of the attached disc, but does not allow continued navigation to the DVD folder on the disc. I get an error of no media when I click on the folder name. Can this be fixed to allow viewing of the media on the folders of the firewire disc?

Are you asking if someone can come over to your house and correctly configure your mac for proper filesharing? I'm a bit busy otherwise i'd offer to fly out and do it

Since it correctly fileshares with 5 windows computers with various OS in my home network I was presuming the problem was with WD. I do not ask for personal help; I thought I was alerting to a problem no one else has seen with wdtv because of the firewire disk interface.

do you know how to telnet/ssh? if not look at the tutorial at wiki.wdlxtv.com and then do this to your mount:
Code: Select all
cd /tmp/media/usb/myMount
ls -la

where myMount is your xmount label. it could just be a permission issue.

THIS IS POSTED IN THE WRONG FORUM

I have a wdtvlive+ with your mod 0.4.2.5

I don't know how to move to correct forum.

I successfully telnet change password and ssh.

cd command fails. I have no usb attached to wdtv.

How do I cd to a network share that shows in wdtv navigation?

mac/mmt/macfw : macfw is a firewire connected 1tb disk : contains folder DVDs , among others

clicking macfw give error of no media

I am watching wdtv video of many formats in several PC windows network shares and watching video from the macfw from network windows machines (and mac).
