What is happening here? (linux?)

I got the latest version of the regular full version up on the live.

I ftp'ed to it and looked around.

In the /tmp directory i see a directory named the same as the the computer on where i have the shares, looking into that directory i see folders named after my shares, and looking into the shares it seems all the files are present???

Of course the live doesn't have that much memory - but if i ftp'ed a file down the whole file came down.

Exactly what happened there?

Well. Your shares are visible on your TV screen right? There is now real magic to it. Its just WDTV that shows you that. On the filesystem in Linux your shares looks like folders. No big deal.

And you are right. WDTV does not copy your shared content. You were just looking at your PC shares
