Because it still doesn't work!!
I got the same message over and over again when I try to access netwerk shares via DISKSTATION. =>This network-share is not accessible.

But never mind anyway. I leave my already downloaded movies for what they are and download in the futere only .mkv movies.

xmounts are accessed via Local Drives NOT Network Shares on WDTV!

Ok my fault.
Access via mediaserver was never the problem. That works just fine, but I can't even via mediaserver got a movie with subtittles.

I don't want to use dlna! I have everything wired!

I would like to start from the beginning with all the things I've read and learned.

The IP of my nas is 192.168.1.6
The NFS rights of the folder (Video) I want to share are : (Cliënt : 192.168.1.7, no root squash, read only, on the pad /volume1/Video
The IP of my wdlxtv is 192.168.1.7
The settings I've made in the wdlxtv are :
NFSD ON
NFSD_auto ON
NFSD_auto_default is 192.168.1.6
SAMBA sharing is all set.
CIFS-Interceptor is ON

I've made the Cifs-interceptor file in notepad with no extention and use filezilla to place it under /tmp/conf
CIFS-interceptor : //192.168.1.6/DISKSTATION|192.168.1.6:/volume1/Video Video|
net.mounts : xmount 192.168.1.6:/volume1/Video DISKSTATION nfs proto=tcp

I just want to see movies with subtittles.
If someone else can, then maybe with your help I can too.
I'm not used to this system so please, explain step by step.

aduh ...

on the pad
what's the pad ? to my knowledge an ipad is not able to access nfs shares

NFSD ON
NFSD_auto ON
NFSD_auto_default is 192.168.1.6

this has nothing to do with accessing your NAS

CIFS-Interceptor is ON

I've made the Cifs-interceptor file in notepad with no extention and use filezilla to place it under /tmp/conf
CIFS-interceptor : //192.168.1.6/DISKSTATION|192.168.1.6:/volume1/Video Video|
net.mounts : xmount 192.168.1.6:/volume1/Video DISKSTATION nfs proto=tcp

cifs-interceptor is about the most advanced way to set up NFS access, I recommend you get the standard NFS xmounts working first

the following at not the same
NFS
Samba (aka CIFS) accessed via network shares
media server

subtitles work with NFS, or CIFS

Ok , it's the nOOb central you know? :-)

Let's work on the NFS mount.
What do you think about my net.mounts file if you know that the map I'm sharing is Video : xmount 192.168.1.6:/volume1/Video DISKSTATION nfs proto=tcp
If I look in my nas with options under shared folders, I see that the map Video is coupled on the path : /volume1/Video?
If I look under windows explorer, I see : Network => DISKSTATION => Video and then the different movies.
Maybe it's supposed to look like this : xmount 192.168.1.6:/DISKSTATION/Video Video nfs proto=tcp ?

Are there things that definitively NOT may be set ON if I use NFS because of a conflict between different settings?

Here is my config on my Synology DS212 (using DSM 3.2) and how it renders in the Windows Explorer :
Image
NFS is also activated on the Syno.

And once again, I have the following line in my net.mounts file :
Code: Select all
xmount 192.168.0.8:/volume1/Movies Movies nfs rw,hard,intr,tcp,nolock,vers=3,rsize=32768,wsize=32768

Then on the WDTVLive, "Local drives" > Folders > Movies for instance.

NB : the "Synology assistant" tool can give you the Syno's IP address. That's the IP you use in your browser to enter the Synology web interface (but you probably know all this already)
WD TV Live (Model number WDBAAP0000NBK) running 1.02.21.WDLXTV_LIVE-0.5.1.1 + picto osd + MNv4 + webplayer
Synology DS212

Thx oudoulj! If this is all then I'm almost there :P !
Except the local folder is something I don't have in my wdtv live or is it the same thing as mediaserver?

Local folders only appears on screen when you have a USB drive inserted in the WDTV. This is clearly stated in the xmounts wiki page (in bold, actually)!
