Thanks, I tried both... No reaction... Any other idea?

Is it possible to format the internal memory of the equipment?

well as far as I know, you can't format the internal memory of the WDTV,
but you reset its settings to factory default by pressing and holding the small reset button on the side of the WDTV (near the side usb port)

Reset did not solve the problem.
Any other idea?

k ,lets start from the beginnig...

what happens when you plug the power cord to the WDTV, wihtout anything plugged in... no USB device no network...
just the Video cable (HDMI or Component or Composite)
Leave it be for about 10 minutes....

Tell me everything it shows on the TV, when you plug the power...
And if you TV goes black, try to find out if it becasue theres "no signal" or the WDTV is sending a black screen...
Most TVs will display "no signal" of turn the screen blue when it the case....

It says: Insert a USB drive with firmware to recover your WDTV.

great so it means that it already in recovery mode....
go to Western Digital Web Site,
download the lastest (not Beta) firmware

Make sur you have a USB flash drive that is formated in FAT32, (you can use Windows format, just make sure you select FAT32)
copy over the 3 files from the ZIP you downloaded the .fff .ver and .bin , make sure they are the only files in the flash drive....
remove everything else, including folders...
Don't modify any of the firmware files....

when you have that message, insert the USB Flash drive on the back of the WDTV.... after a few second the USB LED should start flashing meaning that its reading the flash drive... it should start installing the firmware

if the LED just flashes like 1 or 2 times... and then stops and nothing else happens in the next 10 minutes....
Try to copy the 3 firmware files to a different branded flash drive, and try again.
Personaly I used Kingston Datatraveler 4GB and a InnoDisk Nano 4GB and both worked fine.

Just a minor detail, but I see many of my own customers failing to do that with their USB disks: after you copy the files on your USB key, make sure to use WIndows "Safely remove" option in the notification area before unplugging your USB disk. This will ensure that any partly written file will be fully written to the disk.

Tried it all,
Reformatting the flash, FAT And FAT32.
I only get the message "new version etc." with the official firmware (after editing XXX.ver to a higher version.), Not with the MODware ( 1.02.21_B-RAD.CC_EXT3-BOOT_LIVE-0.4.2.1)
-The official .ver file contains a litle more info: VERSION='1.02.21'LOCATION='wdtvlive.bin'PKG_LOCATION='wdtvlive.pkg'
Using this phrase (with higher version eddited of cause) does also not resolve the issue.
-The official version does contain an .fff file. Without this .fff file, the official version is also not recocnized. Adding the .fff file to the wdlxtv does also not solve it.

The only thing I can think about is the version of my WDTV. It is a WTTV live, P/N WD8AAP0000NBK-01 On the WD site they only mention P/N WD8AAN0000NBK-0

Any Suggestions???

1.02.21_B-RAD.CC_EXT3-BOOT_LIVE-0.4.2.1 is NOT a flashable firmware! It's a firmware that runns from usb. :ugeek:

Exactly, the verson you have has a "root.bin" file in it
which is used to boot directly from a USB, but in order to do that, the WDTV needs to be flashed to a custom firmware first...

for now try this versiuon instead
1.02.21_WDLXTV.COM_WDLXTV_LIVE-0.4.3.1
