Now re-flashed. Everything seems to be working perfectly...great piece of software. When was the SAMBA server improved? It now copes with HD streaming over LAN! Still using Hanewin NFS server but perhaps not now essential.

Ok Guys n00b here.. Got a WDTV Live box a day ago.. loving it..

Now Quick questions

1) I am on firmware: 1.06.15_V

2) Will I be able to put the hack firmware (which I read somewhere) on this version?

3) What advantages of hack firmware? I guess http://wiki.wdlxtv.com/Main_Page#Features

4) Which firmware to download? 1.02.21-WDLXTV-Live-0.4.7.3 [flash] ??? I am confused as there are so many on http://forum.wdlxtv.com/viewforum.php?f=61 ?? or is there some latest one?? live 0.5.x.x (again read somewhere)

4) How to do so in step-by-step? I guess post 1

I have been in these forums all day and decided to flash my wdtv live after a year of waiting. I downloaded 1.02.21_WDLXTV.COM_WDLXTV_LIVE-0.4.7.3. After changing the .ver file to higher number my wd 'told' me there was a firmware upgrade. I installed and it froze on the o% screen for 30 min+ so in the FAQ it says to unplug for 5 sec (I waited 5min) and try again. Did this and I even tried a new USB drive. Now my WDTV live is stuck at this 0%. Please help because now the box is useless and it seemed so easy to install in the instructions. I'm bummed

update: I placed the flash drive in the side usb initially and switched it to the back while the power was on. Seriously. Strange. No rebooting helped. I KNOW ITS IN THE WIKI FAQ but that is not detailed.

When you say you unplugged for 5 seconds, what exactly did you unplug? The power or the USB drive? In this situation you should always unplug and replug back in (in about 5 seconds) your USB drive. Then the upgrade is picked up again. It's an issue with the kernel WD supplies.
Also, tell us what your screen says now.

the unpluging was the power, I never saw the specifically stated unplug the USB with the power on. Usually when you say to unplug something and wait for 5 secs it infers that the capacitors need to be discharged and 5 sec is the amount of time to reset. Alas I did the USB drive and it worked.

Thanks for the reply man

I tried to play a 1080p file from my NAS which has DTS audio.. Now my WDTV is connected via HDMI cable.. There was no sound.. Now after some google I found that DTS sound will only come if I use some optical cable or some other sound box.

My question is, What are my options to play a movie with DTS sound in it? any firmware support? or any other alternates??

Thanks

remove you USB and plug it right back...

If nothing happens
Power down the WDTV
Put the USB on the other USB port and powerd your WDTV back up
if still stuck at 0%, do the same thing, remove the USB and put it right back in....

IF still the same issue, then try chaning the USB drive

Personaly I have good results with a Kingston Data Traveler 4GB using the side USB port

I have tried both USB slots, but neither of them work.
What can I do if I dont have an extra USB drive?
