Hi All,

I have been trying to figure this out for the better part of the day, where any firmware update attempt would be stuck at 0%, seemingly forever.

A little trolling on the internet, and the answer is to quickly unplug and plug back in your USB device, while the unit is trying to update. Within about a minute, the update started.

This worked for me in both downgrading and upgrading firmware.

Hope this saves you troubleshooting effort,

Folks, do I have to use the EXT3-BOOT-Live image in order to have access to the file system later and add support for apps? Or does app adding require no filesystem access? So, for UMSB or WDTVext for e.g., do I have to use the EXT3-BOOT-Live image, or can I still use the flash version? Thanks

First, there is no such thing as UMSB. If you are referring to UMSP, it's a media server that allows streaming online content, and it uses plugins, not apps. As for apps themselves, they are distributed in app.bin format, which is a single file that simply has to reside on a USB disk to be automatically used at boot time. Have a look on the Wiki, you will find a lot of information there as a starting point, including answers to the ext3 vs flash versions.

in short: no, you don't need ext3 version for UMSP plugins, WDTVExt plugins or app.bins.

Thanks for the responses. I have loaded the full flash image and I have been able to use UMSP plugins without issues.
Now I seem to have an issue with streaming live internet streams, as I have loaded 1.3.49 based WDLXTV code for my WDTV Live Plus.
That version does not support the IPTV plugin.

Is there any other way to play live Internet streams? I guess that i shall ask this in a separate thread...
Thanks.

Hey gang, got a noob question here for you. I'm getting ready to install b-rads firmware, but I've run into a question before I do, I want to make sure I get it right first.

Now, going by the read me file, and comments in this thread, I'm only supposed to put the .fff, .ver, and .bin files on the thumbdrive, but what do I do with the changelog, net.mounts, smb.conf, and the S00custom-options files?

these files are for customizing the system. After flashing remove the .fff, .bin and .ver file and put any or all of those files on the usb drive, plug it into wd and reboot/power-cycle the device. WDLXTV will then use the configuration from the files during boot. (of course you should edit them to your needs before you do so...)

These files are mostly deprecated because the options they provide can be configured more easily via the webinterface. (WEC)

Hi. New to this forum.
I spent most of yesterday's afternoon reading this thread and finally decided to flash my wdtvlive. Recently I updated to OFW 1.05.04, did the change to wdlxtv 1.03.49_V.WDLXTV_LIVE-0.4.7.3 without downgrading... it worked!!! don't kown why but it did and works flawlessly.
