I had a rather difficlut time getting my WIN7 shares seen by the WDTV -- even via CIFS. Here's a reg hack I used in getting it to work. Don't know if that's all I did, but it's a place to start. Also -- make sure the Windows Live Sign-in Assistant is NOT installed on the Win 7 machine. Check add/remove programs and uninstall if you see it.
Registry Hack Windows 7 for WDTV Live
=======================================================
1. Navigate to the following location in the registry editor.
MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\
2. On the right side, double-click on
'everyoneincludesanonymous' and change the 'Value data' from '0' to '1'
3. Double-click on 'NoLmHash' and change the 'Value data' from
'1' to '0'
4. Navigate to the following location in the registry editor:
MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanManServer
\Parameters
5. Double-click on 'restrictnullsessaccess' and change the
'Value data' from '1' to '0'

Of course -- be careful and backup your registry first. Also create a system restore point 1st.
I have now exhausted any possible help that I can be on this matter. Unless I think of something else.
