rTorrent: The Definitive Guide for the WDTV

Postby chameleon_skin » Sun Sep 12, 2010 2:13 pm

Since rTorrent is probably one of the applications that users are most interested in, I've created a guide on the Wiki for instaling, using, and troubleshooting it. You can find it here:

http://wiki.wdlxtv.com/How_to_use_rTorrent

In order to keep us from having to answer the same questions over and over again, I'm going to nominate this post for a stickie :)

Since the GUI is ruTorrent see; http://forums.rutorrent.org/index.php?PHPSESSID=f4e59d3c470d69d7186ba794149b295c&board=4.0 for GUI guides. Excellent work on the wiki.

It's all nice but: how do you create a .mnt folder or file with a windows machine?
It will not let me do that...or is it like "whatever.mnt" ??
Just a noob fuming...:(

Upload whatever.mnt using FTP, then use your FTP client to rename it to just ".mnt" on the WDTV.

Or you can just telnet into the WDTV and change into the drive by typing:

cd /tmp/media/usb/USBX/ABC123-XYZ

where "USBX" will be "USB1", USB2", etc. (depending on how many drives you have), and ABC123-XYZ is a random-looking directory name on that drive. Then type "touch .mnt" and you're good to go.

Success and disaster...
I have managed rTorrent going and it was downloading nice....
Then I did the encryption thing and stopped rTorrent...
Now I don't have the rTorrent icon in the WEB interface.
What did I do wrong and how can I get that back?
In the left side pane the red button is lit in front of rTorrent; when I start it it will say "started" but the rTorrent GUI is still missing

WHAT IS GOING ON????????????????/
Installed 0.4.2.1 on a second box, set up rTorrent and after the last reboot the icon has disappeared....
All this after giving the chmod 777 permission to the box

I don't have any other box so someone please tell me how to fix this!

--------------------------------------------
managed with re-loading; I have the rTorrent but not doing anything;
error:XMLRPC Error;Call XML not a proper XML-RPC call. Unknown value type -- XML element is named <i8> [setsettings]
Do I need to change anything in default settings?
