Hello,
This is my first post but I have read most of your posts in this forum.
I have a WD TV Gen 1 and a Gigabit USB to Ethernet Adapter (AXIS 88178).
I have installed WDLX latest firmware and I am able to obtain an IP by using asix-gigabit-drivers.app.
Moreover, I can ssh/telnet, ftp, nfs, samba, webserver. In general, I can do everything!
But...not for long! When I watch a movie (by using NFS) after a while it crashes.
When I have a FTP transfer (ie a file 300Mb) my transfer speed is about 3.5Mb/s but after a while (when the transfer is about 100Mb) I have decrease in speed until it crashes.
Furthermore, after installing the WDLX firmware I have even problem watching a movie from a USB (especially 720 or 1080).
This is the main reason why I believe the problem is not the usb2lan adapter
It has to be something with the WD free memory. By using TOP, before I stream the memory is:
Mem: 60288K used, 47748K free, 0K shrd, 10360K buff, 31120K cached
after a while (streaming)
Mem: 105180K used, 2856K free, 0K shrd, 7088K buff, 71004K cached
when the available free memory is over my system crashes. I suppose, the reason is that the system keeps writing data in its memory (it has 100mb memory). What is the sollution?
It is really annoying, to know that so many people are able to stream/transfer files with this device while I cannot. I have spent a number of hours trying to make it work without success. What do I do wrong?
I can send you whatever info you need (TOP, messages.txt, dmesg.txt, system.txt)
Thanks
