WDLXTV-0.5.8.1 Remote keys dont work

Postby fzxbh » Fri Dec 09, 2011 1:56 am

Hi all,

I have Gen1 and play well for about a year.

Telnet, mldonkey, FTP and eiri work fine.

One day I found that keys don't work except BACK during playing.

Include STOP, OPTION, REV, PAUSE, PLAY, FF, PREV and NEXT.

Besides, even during play, the screen-saver always comes out.

Later I found only after I set the date the keys dont work.

Once I use command:

date 1209xxxx2011

then remote keys failure.

I have to set the date, because Mldonkey needs the correct date to work.

Now I have to reboot the box before play and set date before start Mldonkey every time.....

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
my config:

Gen1 + WDLXTV-0.5.8.1 + DWA140 + MyBook 1T (ext3)

In root:

RT2870STA.dat
S00custom-options
eiri.app.bin
eiri.conf.txt
net.config
opt.bin
pure-ftpd.app.bin
wireless-mode-rt.app.bin

Anyone can help? Or have any idea? Thanks.

I'm not sure if this applies to Gen1 as well but I know from Live that DMAOSD starts behaving very strange when you change the date after it was started...
Why don't you set the date using NTP on startup?

Thanks for reply.

Turn NTP on is worse.

config_tool -c NTP=OFF
config_tool -c NTPSERVER=pool.ntp.org
config_tool -c NTP_DELAY=30

Once turn NTP ON, the date is OK but remote and screen-saver are still lost control even Mldonkey not start.

Actually, as soon as the original datetime "1/1/2000" has been changed, the remote keys lost control. :cry:

I'm sorry but I can't help you further, I don't have a Gen1 and development of WDLXTV for Gen1 has stopped a long time ago.

it's been a while since I setup my Gen1 but from what I remember I think you have 2 entries in your net.config that need looking at;

the first one is
export TZ="WAUST-8WAUDT"

that should be just
TZ=WAUST-8WAUDT

nothing before it, no " in it.

the other thing is the actual NTP server
NTP=pool.ntp.org
I couldn't get my system to work right using that, I found one for my Country (Canada), I use
NTP=ca.pool.ntp.org

from what I recall, the problem you are describing is definitely a time configuration issue

you can get a good list of time servers from here;
Code: Select all
http://www.pool.ntp.org/en/

make changes and reboot, only way to know for sure, change 1 thing at a time so you will know the offending entry.

good luck.

Thanks.

Actually, export TZ="WAUST-8WAUDT" is working. Wdtv gets the right time.

export TZ="WAUST-8WAUDT" or TZ=WAUST-8WAUDT is not the key.

All you point out is how to get the right time zone, right server and get the right time.

My problem is: once wdtv changes the time, whatever via NTP server or date xxxxxxxx2011 command,

the remote keys stop working.

The initial time is 010108012000, once you change it, the keys and screen-saver lost control.

if your initial time is 010108012000 when you boot up then it's definitely not working properly at all.
when you boot up and type 'date' in telnet it should give you the actual date and time, not 010108012000
if you have to set it then something isn't working properly.

from what you type now I am not so sure of your issue anymore ...
you say
export TZ="WAUST-8WAUDT"
gets the right time (010108012000 is not right!), then what is the issue?

perhaps you need a delay (sleep=x) where x is a numerical value for the number of seconds you want the system to wait before the next command is issued.
mine boots up and has the correct time, it's when you manually change it that the issue happens is it not?

sorry but you seem to be contradicting yourself here.

I am sure I know how to set up the correct time.

What ever use DATE command or set NTP ON is not what I talk about.

My box's problem is: remote keys don't work and screen-saver comes out incorrectly JUST AFTER the box got the right time.

export TZ="WAUST-8WAUDT" works fine, because I get the right time after boot. (use date in telnet)

So I know export TZ="WAUST-8WAUDT" works.

I have set the delay to 30.

I describe my problem again: I know how to set the time, problme is not about how to set the time.

My problem is when I set the correct time, my remote don't work.

I know DATE command in telnet and know how to config NTP.

What I don't know is : after setting the time, how to get the remote work.

My box ONLY PLAYS MOVIE WELL when boot time is 010108012000.

The remote keys DO NOT WORK if you change the factory time 010108012000.

RevDrew,

Thanks for your replay.

I see you have WDTV with: 1.03.01_B-RAD.CC_WDLXTV-0.5.8.1 *wireless* DWA-140,

just the same as mine.

Would you pls try setting the WDTV's correct time and test playing under WDLXTV0.5.81?

Or you just attach your net.config and S00custom-options here, thanks a lot.

I already told you that your problrm is WHEN you set the time... You somehow have to manage to set the time BEFORE dmaosd gets started.
