*UPDATE*
3/7/2011
Fix permissions on init script
add dependencies for wireless modules, fixes modprobe.

Included in this app.bin is 2 drivers:
1. rtl8712_8188_8191_8192SU
2. rtl8192CU
3. RTL8187L *update*

dependencies:
wireless app pack (without this, it will not work)

Modules:
/lib/modules/2.6.15-TvDock/r8187l.ko
/lib/modules/2.6.15-TvDock/8712u.ko
/lib/modules/2.6.15-TvDock/8192cu.ko

The 8192cu and RTL8187L driver is UNTESTED! I do not have this device so that means I have no way to test. I only
included this was because someone requested this. Regardless of what driver you use, be sure to use
the log-saver app since this will grab all the log files and info needed for debugging any problems. If
you want me to help you send me the output from log-saver or else your PM's and postings
will be ignored. Send me all the logs log-saver generates, don't send me 1 or a parsed version.. I'll
be the one debugging so I know what I'm looking for.

I'll add some more, but again.. I do not own any of the devices except the 8188.

BTW, always test with an open/no security configured WIFI and static IP first. Configuring wpa_supplicant is a pain
to configure and you'll save me and you alot of headaches.

Code: Select all

#You can override the hostname here:

# attempt to set jumbo frames

#this is for an open wireless setup
#WIFITOOL=IWTOOLS

#uncomment this if you need WPA or WPA2 etc..

Has anyone gotten the rtl8192CU driver to work?

On my WDTV Gen1, the logs keep saying it is loading the rtl8150 driver even though in my net.config
I define: WLAN_LOAD=8192CU.ko

I am not specifying rtl8150 in any of my config files so the WDTV must be loading this driver by default?

Maybe I using the wrong name for the "8192" driver ??

hmm...

On my other WDTV Gen1, I have a rtl3070 Wifi usb dongle and it streams fine so I have the overall process
working. It seems to be a driver issue... :?:

Which version of firmware do you use please? I am not able to load drivers on my 1.03.49_V_WDLXTV.COM_WDLXTV_LIVE-0.4.7.3. Which uses kernel 2.6.22.19 versus 2.6.15 for compiled drivers.

this is only for wdtv gen 1, which is why I posted it in this forum. I am not sure if WD provides this driver in the LIVE firmware. I just started a new job and deleted my toolchain from my laptop(needed the space). As soon as I get access to our VMware cluster I'll be able to bring up the toolchain again and begin contributing once more. So I'm out of commission for a bit... feel free to email me with questions and I'll do my best to help.

I have A WDTV HD Gen 1 and was getting ready to get rid of it but I stumbled upon this post. I have an Ailink 101 Golden N AWLL6075 wirless USB. I have been trying to get this to work foe the past few days and no luck the firmware with the realtek-wireless-drivers-0.1.app.bin and the wireless-mod-wdlxtv.app.bin will not load on to the WDTV. It detects new firmware goes through the process but it does not take.

the current frimware is VERSION='1.03.01.WDLXTV-0.5.8.1'. I change the version in the wdtv.ver file to VERSION='1.06.04.WDLXTV-0.5.8.2' to get the WDTV to install the netwoking bins but the firmware will not load.

I have the G2 and I've managed to load the driver. But I'm struggling to get the config file to work.

I've posted my config files here: http://forum.wdlxtv.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=3462

There is zero chance you got these 100% incompatible modules to load on a different device/kernel.

Do you already have wdlxtv installed on your G1? If so you don't flash app.bins's, you simply place them on a device thats attached to your G1 then un&replug it in.

Well plus the obvious bit of configuring your net.config correctly.

So remove wdtv.ver and wdtv.bin and just leave the app.bins
