Thanks Guys,
Happy to be here.

I've noticed an increase in the hit rate on the website already - great response.

That means I'd better get back to work on the next release. ;)

Thanks very much for this linux version - it's been working great for me! I have looked thru all of the settings but can't find the answer to my question - what can you do if you have a movie that IMDB shows - but sheetmaker can't find a match?

Hi jackie999,

Thanks for the feedback.
Yes your problem was identified as an oversight in SheetMaker. A movie is first searched for at 'themoviedb.org' and when matched, the returned imdb-id is used to get the information from imdb.com. It's done this way because imdb.com doesn't have a search API available but themoviedb.org does.

This fails however, when the movie can't be found on themoviedb.org.

To get around this I have added an option for the user to specify the imdb-id if name matching fails. This is available in the next version (1.24), which I am attempting to release in the next week or so.

Hope that will help.

Cheers,
bunyip.

I recently had to start 'fresh' with my linux..I decided I hated Unity so wanted to give Kubuntu a try. One of the first applications I needed to install was sheetmaker..and it was giving me problems on a new system - I found the answer given in this link really helped ..hope it helps anyone else that is struggling.

Hi jackie999,

Yeah, there are many sites that have added a 'How to install SheetMaker', which I find interesting because I explain how to install and run the program in the download package and on the website.

I must be too close to it because I never have trouble re-installing it, and being the author I can't see it from a new user's view point.

I would be very interested to hear what parts you found a problem so that I can update the installation instructions to make them easier to follow.

I'd like to hear from anyone else that had trouble too, thanks.

Cheers,
bunyip.

Hi bunyip1,
I'm sure it was because I'm such a linux noob that I had all the problems. The program is running just fine now so I'm not too sure how to tell you where I was stuck. I took a look at my google searches at the time to find some of the errors I was looking up. For instance,
EXIFTOOL/Image-ExifTool-8.65.tar.gz make -- NOT OK
TODDR/XML-Parser failed
PODMASTER/XML-TokeParser force

I remembered I needed to run the build essentials - but still I got the errors and was about to give it up when I came across that site. When I originally installed your sheetmaker on my Ubuntu months ago I did follow your instructions and it went flawlessly.

Thanks jackie999,

As with any Linux program install it's probably all about missing dependencies.
I'll think about how to make it easier, one option of course is to provide 'deb' and 'rpm' packages but I've not investigated that line yet.

Cheers,
bunyip.
