@superbigjay, you may already know this, you can create 1 MSHEETDIR for both devices and share over the network, currently works with NETAPP over cifs

Yes I know...
When I setup my wdtvs, I've put a small 4GB usb key on both media player (to make xmount shares visible via local drive).
Maybe I could have used the fakeUSB, but I had those keys laying around anyways...

So I simply duplicate the MSHEETDIR.

But thanks for the info... ;)

just put 1 MSHEETDIR on your network containing all moviesheets you want available for both devices

your shares will still use xmount
and MSHEETDIR will use NETAPP

then you only have to update the 1 MSHEETDIR and both devices would be up to date

thanks for your tips. Too bad I still didn't have much time to test it... Only thing I recognized was that the moviesheet of the movie I tested was displayed correct but the sheet that's showing up when the movie is selected didn't display at all. Possible I didn't rename it correctly, will tell you tomorrow. I think the tip about centralizing my moviesheets using a network share won't work in my case since I don't know where to put it :D I don't have a computer/NAS/whatever running all the time. If you got any suggestions what to use just tell me :) else I'll just stay with USB stick. Right now I don't have 2 WD's anyway. But do you know if it's possible to disable the movie-navigation and just navigate through my moviesheets?

You could put your msheetdir on the usb key connected to your wdtv.
if you ever get a second wdtv, then you could set that one to access that same msheetdir via the network.
You would just have to keep the network active on your first wdtv, so the attached usb devices would always be available.

Kad,
thanks for the tip, but I'll still keep my duplicate msheetdir.
Another advantage of this is if I bring my wdtv with my external harddrive backup to a friend's place to watch some movies, my moviesheets will still work ;-)

superbigjay was right, I'm trying not to use the linksheet script because it's slower (correct me if I'm wrong).
I'm trying to not make the WD too slow by using moviesheets. Keep in mind I'm having lots of data / high amount of files on the HDD (3TB+ growing) so I need something that gets along with this.

So on the HDD (with the movies on there) I'm having a folder called "Movies". For each movie I've got I'll create a folder (example: "Avatar.1080p.BluRay.x264-RSG.mkv" -> foldername "Avatar"). Placing files in the folder "Avatar":
- "Avatar.1080p.BluRay.x264-RSG.mkv" (movie itself)
- "Avatar.1080p.BluRay.x264-RSG.jpg" (movie thumbnail)
- "folder.jpg" (folder thumbnail for "Avatar")
- "Avatar.1080p.BluRay.x264-RSG.mkv.tgmd" (Metadata file)

On the USB Stick (with the OSD) I'm having a folder called "MSHEETDIR". Placing files in the folder "MSHEETDIR":
- "Avatar" (removed "_sheet.jpg" of "Avatar_sheet.jpg")
- "Avatar.1080p.BluRay.x264-RSG.mkv" (removed "_sheet.jpg" of "Avatar.1080p.BluRay.x264-RSG.mkv_sheet.jpg")

I've also checked about the filesize of the moviesheets that didn't display yesterday and compared them to the ones that worked. Indeed the only difference was the filesize. I can't test it right now since I'm not at home but that probably was the problem.

Can you please confirm my reply being correct before I try things that can't work anyway? Thanks :)

This way it was only displaying the moviesheets, but not the picture for navigation. I might have done something wrong before? Else I'll stay the way I solved it:

So on the HDD (with the movies on there) I'm having a folder called "Movies". For each movie I've got I'll create a folder (example: "Avatar.1080p.BluRay.x264-RSG.mkv" -> foldername "Avatar"). Placing files in the folder "Avatar":

- "Avatar.1080p.BluRay.x264-RSG.jpg" (movie thumbnail)

This way it shows everything I need (navigation picture and moviesheet itself).

"Avatar.1080p.BluRay.x264-RSG.jpg" (movie thumbnail)

should not be in MSHEETDIR, it should be in the movie dir. If it's working for you no problem, but normaly this is wrong.
The dir is for sheets (like the name says). Period.

that's why I first didn't try it this way... But I don't mind if it's working this way. Just posted if some other guys having this problem they might try it ;)

So I can see the moviesheets and the navigation-pictures now. But there's 1 problem left I've got: While navigating through my movies I can see 7 movies on my screen but when I try to check the 8th movie I only see the moviesheet but the navigation-bar doesn't show that one. When I select the 9th movie I can see movie 9-15. Same when I select the 16th movie. Any chance to solve this by configuration?

Hi guys,

I've read as many threads as I can about moviesheets before signing up and posting my problem but I've tried everything.
I can not get sheets to appear at all.

I'm running '1.05.04_V-WDLXTV-Live-0.5.1.1 [flash]' on my WDTV Live.
Connected to WD MyBook World accessed via 'Network shares'.

I can get folder.jpg to appear as a cover with no issues at all.

My structure is...
TV Shows (Folder)
- Fringe (Folder)
-- Fringe 410.avi
-- Fringe 411.avi
-- folder.jpg
- Walking Dead (Folder)
-- WD 206.avi
-- WD 207.avi
-- folder.jpg

My config...
Code: Select all
MSHEETMODE='sheet'
GENMSHEET='OFF'
LISTMSHEET='ON'
VIDMSHEET='ON'
LINKSHEETS='ON'
MSHEETDIR=''
DEFAULTSHEET=''
MOVIESHEET_HIDE_TITLE='OFF'
WDTVEXT='OFF'

I've read all of the naming conventions and can not get anything to work.

Am I missing something blindingly obvious?

Thanks,
G
