Cover Trickle

everything to do with Movie Sheet templates

Answer 1: No you just need it in the "Extra" tab... if you wish to create a Main (movie) and a Parent sheet, you can also do it...
"Buhric - CoverTrickle - Parent Folder - NoBack" is used to create the Folder sheet for the current movie...
You can use any other template to create the main (movie) sheet, and you can also use "Buhric - CoverTrickle - Parent's Parent Folder - NoBack" to create a sheet for the Folder 1 level down of the current movie...

An example of where Parent's Parent could be used is when you have a multipart movie.. like "Harry Potter"
supposed the following folder tree
\Movies\Harry Potter\HP1\The_sorcerer_stone.avi
you can use "Buhric - CoverTrickle - Parent Folder - NoBack" to create the shee for the "HP1" folder - as the "Extra" sheet
you can use "Buhric - CoverTrickle - Parent's Parent - NoBack" to create the shee for the "Harry Potter" folder - as the "Parent" sheet

Answer 2: Yes unfortunatly, if you add/remove movies, you need to redoo some of the sheets
When you add a movie, you need to do the one you added + 9 movies before and 9 movies after (in alphabetical order)
... so the current movie plus 18 more
If if remove a movie.... you will need to do the 9 movies that come before and after in alphabetical order....

But they can be done using metadata, which is a lot faster and does not need any supervision on your part... just select the movies
and click on "Use Metadata" select the "Extra" sheet and the correct template...
can take a couple of minutes to complete (time depends on how many folders you have, since it needs to scann all of them for the folder thumbnail)

Heres how I generate my sheets for new movies,
I select the movie I hadded, then I just select the option to create the movie thumbnail and the "extra" (folder) thumbnail, and the MetaData file.... on the same pass I also select the 3 fanarts pictures I want plus the background.
At this point I do not generate any sheets... I just make sure the metadata (.tgmd) file contains all the info I want
Then when its done, I use the "Generate from metadata" to generate the "extra" (folder) sheet, and any other sheet i want (main or parent)

Thanks for all the info and help Buhric I've enjoyed setting up and using your Cover Trickle templates.
The WDTV Live looks so much better in action using them and my vistors who see them in action are very impressed.
Thanks again for your help.

Hi im using your cover and it works fine with some exceptions.

I have a few films split up into 2 parts. This is a slight problem as thumgen makes two sheets for this would I have to make a parents parent folder.

The other problem is I have certain films where the trickle will always stick to the first film in my list even though it's further down my list and the other ones before it trickle without a problem. They will even show the film that won't trickle.

1. for multipart movies.... what I do is use "Virtual dub" or "Virtual Dub Mod" and recombine the 2 parts in 1
it only works if the 2 parts have the same bitrate...

2. what is the name of the movie? usualy my template will do that when the movie name or folder contains special charaters
like "&", or when the file "folder.jpg" is missing.
Could you give me an example of the structure of a movie thats causing the issue, also tell me the names of the surrounding folders....

I realised that having special characters in the folder name caused thumbgen to act funny before but the last film I forgot to change was zack and miri make a p#rno.

But aside that thumgen failed to pick up a few films and caused the films around them to act funny so I cut my loses and deleted the films as I would probably never watch them again anyway.

The new problem I have is on the computer when I view the sheets I see the dvd folder in the middle and the next sheet I'm going to view is on the right and the one before is on the left, hence the trickle effect. But when I view them on the WD TV LIVE they show up at the far left corner with the next film on the right. (Even on a folder with the sheet showing the very first film in the list, but that's another story)

I'm going to fix this before I start the tv shows.

on the WDTV, is the icon on the far left showing up "sideways"?
or is it "full frontal" like the center one when the sheet is viewed on the PC ?

better yet, a picture is wroth a thousand words....

and on my wd tv live it shows like this

Looking back at your earlier posts and other members who have used this template, I've realised even though I'm happy with mine it doesn't look as good and I've noticed the dvd covers at the bottom aren't at an angle like in yours. More problems :D :D

* edited I used the wrong film as you already stated the wd shows will show films 111 before 101. I hope you get the idea of what I mean.

Thanks, hope you can help

the reason why you are seeing it like that on your WDTV, it's because you are in "sheet" mode, you will need to change to "std" mode
either type the following in a telnet prmpt, or put it in your S00custom-options file
Code: Select all
config_tool -c MSHEETMODE=std
config_tool -s

and has for the order they show up, the WDTV is different thatn Windows
WDTV uses a alphabetical soring, windows its a mix of numerical and alphabetical
since in windows you will see:
1 - 2 - 50 - 100 - 150 - 200 - then the letters

in the WDTV
1 - 100 - 150 - 2 - 200 - 50 - then the letters

the actual order the WDTV uses is the following:
1st char is the space, and I did not test all of the special characters....
Code: Select all
-@[]^{}~+='0123456789_abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz
