Collector for TV Shows

Postby KenG » Tue Mar 06, 2012 9:01 pm

Hi is there any chance of getting information from TVRage.com rather than TheTVDB.com?

The reason I ask is that the TVDB.com lists the name as Episode 1 etc where as TVRage will give
the correct name of the episode, and nine times out of ten the season is locked and you are not
allowed to change it. IMDB also lists the correct name most of the time.

I guess what I'm asking, is there any chance of extra collectors for TV shows.

Cheers

I honestly don't know what you are talking about here.

All my TV episodes have the proper name applied from TVDB when I use the token %EPISODETITLE% in my template.

Well for an example.. look up Being Human Season 1 at TVDB http://thetvdb.com/?tab=season&seriesid=81386&seasonid=35353&lid=7
then try the same thing at TVRage http://www.tvrage.com/Being_Human_UK/episode_list/1 and then you can even go to IMDB
here http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1349938/episodes?season=1 and as you can see, TVRage and IMDB both list the correct titles
of the episodes, while the TVDB only lists Episode 1, 2 etc. As I said this does not happen all the time just with some show's and with the
TVDB season being locked you cant edit the Episode's the correctly name them.

So that is why I have asked if there was any chance for extra collectors for TV show's to get round this problem.

Cheers

You do realise that you can edit that field whilst going through the generation process?

Yes I'm well aware of that but not much good if you have 4 or more seasons with up to
23 episodes that you have to edit. Guess its time to look for another program to do my sheets.

Any body know of a good program that's supported by its programmer?

This sentence is a faded attempt to spit out some frustrations... I can understand that. But, on the other hand, the ThumbGen app was developed in my SPARE time, using my OWN resources and NOT as my main source of revenue. We are NOT a team, I am a single programmer. Now I am forced to spend few hours per day travelling to my new working place therefore less and less time remains for the ThumbGen project.
I think I still _support_ ThumbGen (at least by fixing major bugs and keeping collectors up-to-date) but there's no time (nor interest) for adding extra features. Myself I am NOT using any media player anymore NOR my own application. If I would have time I would rather rewrite it to make it more flexible, powerful and easier to use. But unfortunately for now I can't.

@KenG
You won't find a better apps anywhere for moviesheet or TVsheets....and none are better supported then this one. Try and even chat with another developer and see if you are successful. TG will answer your querry, that's better than most already.

I'd like to see TVRage but I am not worried about it. I get all of what I need with TG. TVRage is a nice-ity, not a necessity.
