Yes, I thought so as well. I modified the code to work with wget and know it's working quite good!
Code: Select all
if ( $sourceData =~ /^http/i )
         {
            Logger($config_options,"grabbing $sourceData from the web","DEBUG");
            if ($temp->Read("$sourceData"))
            {
               $wget = `[ -f ./temp.jpg ] && rm temp.jpg`;
               Logger($config_options,"Unable to load image at $sourceData","DEBUG");
               Logger($config_options,"grabbing $sourceData from the web with WGET","DEBUG");
               $wget = `wget -O temp.jpg $sourceData>&1`;
               Logger($config_options,"wget output: $wget","DEBUG");
               $sourceData="temp.jpg";
               if($temp->Read("$sourceData"))
               {
                  Logger($config_options,"Unable to load image at $sourceData","CRIT");
                  next;
               }
               else
               {
                  $wget = `[ -f ./temp.jpg ] && rm temp.jpg`;
               }
            }
         }

Does anyone has a nice template to work with ThumbScanner? BG1_Brightly_Dark_STD doesn't work that well.

the problem with a lot of templates when using them with ThumbScanner (or any other linux based sheet generator) is that they seem to be written mostly by windows users, who don't care about cases in filenames (because windows is not case sensitive).
If you try to use them in linux they don't work correctly because a lot of images are not found, especially in the common folder....

A little example to demonstrate:
You have atemplate that references a file .../common/IMDB.jpg but in the common folger you have a file imdb.jpg. Now this works perfectly in windows because windows doesn't care about cases but a linux system will not find the file because IMDB.jpg and imdb.jpg are different files.

I took my favourite templates and manually corrected the wrong filenames, which is quite a lot of work but the ThumbScanner log will help you to identify the images...

Hi Recliq... funny meeting you here ;)

I just spent the evening hacking away at the thumbscanner script to make it output different versions (for std, sheet and wall mode) and drop them into my central repository since I like to keep my movies directory nice and tidy. I had used sheetmaker before and it is amazing but until they have a command line version ready I couldn't see a way to make it automatic via cron or similar. Thumbscanner works great too but not quite as well as the sheetmaker gui was able to do.

For example thumbscanner is unable to pull any certification info so I don't get the movie rating image.. 'CERTIFICATION' => undef, is what shows up in the DEBUG log and then because it's undefined:

CRIT: I could not find WDTV/ThumbScanner/Dribblers Template Mega Pack/WD_OrigLook_STD/../Common/certifications/my_certifications/.png

Plus it also seems to have an issue getting the carriage returns right for things like the cast list. Sheetmaker did manage to do it right but even after copy pasting the TextWrap code from sheetmaker to thumbscanner the cast list is still kind of messed up.

For example in Green Mile I got:
Code: Select all
DEBUG:   Text Wrap after  ->
Tom Hanks                      Michael
Clarke Duncan
David Morse                      Bonnie
Hunt                      James
Cromwell                      Michael
Jeter                      Graham
Greene                      Doug
Hutchison                      Sam
Rockwell                      Barry
Pepper

but when I ran it through sheetmaker I got:

Code: Select all
DEBUG:   Text Wrap after  ->
Tom Hanks
Michael Clarke Duncan
David Morse
Bonnie Hunt
James Cromwell
Michael Jeter
Graham Greene
Doug Hutchison
Sam Rockwell
Barry Pepper

If you have any suggestions or pointers as always I'm willing to try. I looked on the thumbscanner github page where I pulled the code from and there are apparently 0 issues.

I've just finished modifying ThumbScanner.pl to ThumbScanner-multi.pl.

It now uses a config file option MOVIESHEETMODE to build either std, sheet or wall mode sheets. I also use a central moviesheet repository so it also takes MOVIESHEETFOLDER from the config and drops your sheets in there instead of storing them in the same directory as the movie file.

Following the naming conventions from http://wiki.wdlxtv.com/How_to_use_Movie_sheets_v2 it now outputs:

moviename.ext_sheet.std.jpg
moviename.ext_sheet.sheet.jpg
moviedirectory_sheet.sheet.jpg
moviename.ext_sheet.wall.jpg
moviedirectory_sheet.wall.jpg

to my central sheets repository and also drops the thumbnail moviename.jpg into the movie folder.

If anyone wants to give it a try PM me or reply here.

Still has the issue with CERTIFICATION => 'undef' so I don't get the rating image in the corner but that's a fight for another day I think... it's movie time! :D

I'm getting a 404 error for that URL:
Code: Select all

I think the api for themoviedb has changed and version 2 is no longer working. Most linux users have migrated over to this project instead: http://forum.wdlxtv.com/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=5255
