Renaming batch movie files

Postby paosms » Sun Feb 27, 2011 3:22 am

Hi there,

I was wondering: what program do you use to rename your batch of movies prior to give them to thumbgen to improve its accuracy?
I can't find anything that works smoothly and allow me to configure the tags i'd like to keep.

For example i can't find a program to do such renaming:
Leon.Director's.Cut.1994.BDRtL.720p.x264.AC3.iTA.eNG-Arlong.mkv ----> Leon Director's Cut [1984] [720p].mkv

The only one which would work is TheRenamer or mediarenamer, but i can't customize tags, can't find a way to add the resolution to names.

What do you use for your renaming? Do you know anything that will do what I want'?

Thanks!

ReNamer is very good, indeed.

Or u can try to process the movies using those "complex" names, TG will try to filter the noise out and extract the proper title.

I found TG does a dang good job at finding a title through all those other things.
Windows 10
WDTV Live
1.02.21 WDLXTV 0.5.1.4 (Beta)
Linksys - WUSB600N USB Adapter
DLink - Dir-655 Router
Atheros - AR8131 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller (NDIS 6.20)
Kodi - The Future of Television

That's for sure.
Only happened twice to have to search manually for a title.

The fact is, if I leave the names as they are, they won't be sorted in alphabetical order in my folder, especially because some idiots put tags BEFORE the name. That's the biggest pain.
When I have to look for a movie among hundreds I just start to cry....

Try to generate some playlists ;) WDTV devices handle playlists nicely; they could be very helpful when dealing with a huge movie collection...

ReNamer is great and I have tried loads of others. I guess there is already a good preset out there to do the job but I have not looked yet.

Or you could take a look at http://wiki.wdlxtv.com/Main_Page#Mass_Folder_Renamer.
