with a telnet focuses didn't take place. But it was succeeded to see file system through the 80th port. I corrected apache config, now at a set http://192.168.x.x/ we see filesystem of the device. The SSL port 443 works as before for webremote and anroid(ios)-application of wd tv remote.

Researches proceed.
The following stage it is planned to start ftp the daemon on the device.

I just tested tveritin's modified firmware, and it works like a charm.

The system will reboot a couple of times while updating, and afterwards, it will be possible to telnet and ftp files to the usb drive.

Also, after the update, the system will still report as being 1.05.47, So I guess it should be possible to rollback to the original firmware using the same method. And even though I am in Brasil, I can still use Hulu (using unlocator) and Netflix.

On a side note, the webremote is not working for me. I get a 404 error when it requests /cgi-bin/toServerValue.cgi. Does it work for someone? (UPDATE: It wasnt working in the original firmware as well, so its not a problem with this new one)

to romania:
Your player supported hulu, but my player not (hulu button absents in player menu even in original firmware).
I guess that our players different, and maybe it is reason of webremote is not working for you. I cannot check my firmware on your version of player hardware.
Second reason of this: If your webremote application uses 80 or 443 port, my firmware won't approach for you, because i'm changed lighttpd.conf for view device root filesystem.
But special for you I may return back functionality regarding to 80 or 443 port.

Sorry, I don't read your message up to the end "(UPDATE: It wasnt working in the original firmware as well, so its not a problem with this new one)"
Try http://192.168.x.x:3388/webremote in any browser on computer or any gadget.
Buttons on display must work like on player remote control unit.
If not working then or problems with a network, or with the application.
By the way, what application you use for remote control

Wait... it's exist a download for Try this "new" firmware ??

You can upgrade for example the youtube app ?? The actually crash every 10 minutes and whit some video and usually i obtain a black screen and we need to turn off the "wd tv play" for back to work......

If you can upgrade the app and the codec for example it's a great modify.... for example you can add a mpeg2 codec or similar things........
