rtorrent and magnet links

This is the place to ask for how to use software that is (or isn't) included in the various wdlxtv flavours. Questions about software such as rtorrent, NZBGet, sshfs, curlftpfs, ssh, telnet, etc.

Just one thing to mention... I cannot modify the ratio groups settings. If I reach 1.05 ration with the torrent, it is automatically removed from the torrent list (the data remain on the hdd). How to set it correctly? Or just ignore this ratio stuff?

Hi Ibax,

Glad to hear it! Re ext3 - I say if it works don't fix it.

Again though no idea why you can't edit ratio settings. I have several set up to remove torrents and data when a certain ratio (or upload amount) is reached and all works as it should.

Send me a PM with your config file and hopefully I can spot something.

I know that there a lot of guides about how to configure rtorrent for wdlxtv, but can I see your rtorrent.conf, workingman?

For one thing, I don't understand why several guides say that I should limit download rate to 1 MB/s. I have fetched 5 MB/s with rtorrent on wdlxtv without (apparent) problems.

Thanks workingman! Excellent job!

I had a couple of hopeless problems of using the original rtorrent 0.8.6 client.

For example, it does not support trackers using https. The solution is to set network.http.ssl_verify_peer.set=0 to fix the problem. But it is only supported in rtorrent 0.8.9.

Another problem is you just keep getting the "torrent not registered with this tracker" message error. This is due to a known bug in rutorrent which changes hash of torrents created with utorrent v3+. The solution is to bypass rutorrent and load torrent files directly to the watch directory. But after loaded these torrents always got stuck in "pausing" status.

Here comes rtorrent 0.9.2 with rutorrent 4.3. I've tested the torrents with issues and all worked flawlessly. The only problem is that if the torrents were loaded with watch directory they still got stuck in forever "pausing". But it's not a big deal for me now.

@workingman: I'm looking into integrating your work into the main firmware (better later than never) :) Can you tell me what is the latest app.bin?

Thanks!

Hi mad_ady!

Obviously I haven't been following this post for quite some time but the latest build I did is still in the same place: http://www.fruitbat.ca/~rob/downloads/WDTV/rtorrent-0.9.2.app.bin

Would be cool to see it get in the main branch.

I did just see this annoying message on the addons web UI page:

The site ahead contains malware

Attackers currently on http://www.filmxtutti.tv might attempt to install dangerous programmes on your computer that steal or delete your information (for example, photos, passwords, messages and credit cards).

Maybe whatever is doing that could be removed at the same time?

Currently running: Firmware
Device: WDLXTV_LIVE
FW Base: 1.02.21
Latest version: 0.5.1.1
Current version: 0.5.2.0

Is my firmware check wrong? Current shouldn't be newer than latest... and now I'm looking for updates.

Ah I just updated my second box to FW Base: 1.05.04 Current version: 0.5.2.1 and see it's got my updated rtorrent inside! Awesome.

I did just noticed an annoying little typo I made in the description in the xml - Updated rtorrent and rutorrent with magent link support

No big deal though.

On to getting my WDExt stuff moved over to 1.05.

Glad you're still around. Make sure to give rtorrent a good testing to make sure I didn't miss anything while integrating it.

Also, don't be too dissapointed when WDTVExt crashes on 1.05.... It will eventually do so.

The update notification mechanism isn't updated yet - I need to ask b-rad to update it... Also, do you get that warning when navigating to the addon page? It's odd - it looks like a local problem (can you check from a different system or a mobile phone?).

Hey mad_ady,

Ya still kickin around.. and ya WDExt is definitely crashing like a champ with a few of the things I've tried but it's only my backup box. I can cook a list of what's working and what's not if you want.

rtorrent seems fine so far. Works just like before and maybe the UMSP plugin will just work now...? have to remember to test that later too!

And seriously, no worries about the update notification I'm just happy to see updates! :D Love the new look for the WEC

Also I can say the warning doesn't happen with firefox.. so probably just chromium being over protective, as usual and nothing to worry about.

Keep up the good work! And just lmk if there's something I can help test..
