rtorrent and magnet links

This is the place to ask for how to use software that is (or isn't) included in the various wdlxtv flavours. Questions about software such as rtorrent, NZBGet, sshfs, curlftpfs, ssh, telnet, etc.

Sure thing Pento... here it is:

Code: Select all
max_uploads = 3
download_rate = 0
upload_rate = 0
directory = /tmp/rt/rtorrent/.incomplete
session = /tmp/rt/rtorrent/.session
schedule = low_diskspace,5,60,close_low_diskspace=100M
execute = {sh,-c,/usr/bin/php-cgi /var/www/plugins/rutorrent/php/initplugins.php wdlxtv &}
port_range = 33001-33001
port_random = no
check_hash = no
use_udp_trackers = yes
encryption = allow_incoming,try_outgoing,require,require_RC4,enable_retry
dht = auto
dht_port = 33001
peer_exchange = yes
scgi_port = 0.0.0.0:5000
max_memory_usage = 512M
encoding_list = "UTF-8,UTF8,UTF-16,UTF16"
system.method.set_key = event.download.finished,notify_me,"execute=/tmp/rt/sortingHat.sh,$d.get_name="

It's pretty standard except I changed the port and added the last line where I run a script on torrent completion.

Oh ya and I have a swap enabled kernel installed so I jacked up the max_memory too.

Unfortunately no.. haven't had time to even look at it in ages.

Will be off all next week though and should be able to have another kick at the can then.

Hopefully I'll be able to post an update before the new year. Cheers!

So I fixed it.. at least I think I did. My initial test worked so I'm uploading the new version.

I did kind of cheese it by just copying over the original autotools directory from /usr/share/rutorrent/plugins/autotools and dropping that into my app.bin. Seems to work as it should now though. I did test watch directory and move on complete, only once but once should be enough right?

New app is up at the same old link as before: rtorrent-0.9.2.app.bin

If anyone finds any issues with this version just reply here or shoot me a PM.

And a Happy New Year everybody!! :D

Hi Workingman.

Thanks for the fix, the problem disappeared...

But now, when I download something, after reaching the 100% completeness, the torrent goes to 'finished' state (instead of starting the seed). Now I click on 'Start', the torrent goes to 'Paused' state. Click STOP and START, than it writes me, that hash check failes, so another downloading needed, it starts to download the missing parts, after that it starts seeding only.

The automove feature is enabled!

My question is, why rtorrent does not start to download the rest of missing bytes after the hash-check?

Thanks for your help!

Hey Ibax,

I really can't say... only that it didn't do that to me. I have seen other posts about things going to paused state instead of seeding or maybe it was magnet link going to queued instead of downloading, don't really remember. Either way I haven't had that problem.

What I have seen is sometimes the state takes a minute or two to change but I never need to make any changes manually. I use autounpack and was always willing to blame the load that puts on the system for the slow update on the web frontend.

Is it happening all the time? Multiple torrents?? I guess it could have just been a corrupted download and maybe something with the way automove works you have to manually start the download again but I am just guessing at this point.

Let me know if the problem persists and if it does I'll do some testing over here to see what I can figure out.

Thanks for letting me know though!

Hi Workingman,

The problem exists, in case of all the downloaded torrents. Unfortunately after each download the torrent goes to 'Finished' state. When I click on 'Start', the torrent goes to 'Pausing'. Click on 'Stop' -> the torrent is on 'Finished' state again.
I click 'Start' once again -> hash checking starts, and when it is finished, the 'Seeding' starts. To summarize:

1) After download -> Finished state
2) click on Start -> Pausing state
3) click on Stop -> Finished state
4) click on Start -> Hash checking
5) after hash check -> Seeding

I think, the required process should be the following:
1) After download -> hash checking
2) after hash check -> Seeding

Thx,
ibax

How are you adding your torrents? Also what filesystem are you using? Are you running the hash check or does it just happen when you restart the torrent?

As I said before nothing like this happens to me so I need to know how you're setup works if I'm going to try to reproduce it.

You are using auto-move on complete right?

lmk and I'll see what I can do.

Hi,

I'm trying to answer you as good as possible...

Q: How are you adding your torrents?
A: I used all the three (1. RSS feed, 2. copy torrent file to /rtorrent/torrents dir, 3. add torrent file with the gui) possibilities, but the same happened in every cases. Or, to tell you the truth, I did not experienced any other behaviour of rtorrent when choosing different type of loading a torrent file
One comment here: the autowatch feature is NOT enabled, but if I copy a torrent file to /rtorrent/torrents, rtorrent loads the torrent file...
The auto-unpack is disabled also.

Q: Also what filesystem are you using?
A: the storage is a 1.5 TB Samsung HDD in a USB 2.0 rack, filesystem is NTFS

Q: Are you running the hash check or does it just happen when you restart the torrent?
A: The hash checking is executing automatically. When I click on Start in step 4, the hash checking is executed by the app

...
3) click on Stop -> Finished state
4) click on Start -> Hash checking
5) after hash check -> Seeding
...

Q: You are using auto-move on complete right?
A: Yes, the auto-move is enabled, the torrents are successfully moved to /rtorrent/finished directory after download

Is it possible to enable some detailed logging in rtorrent? Maybe the logs will answer to the questions more precisely...

Thanks for your help.

Best regards from Hungary
