rtorrent and magnet links

This is the place to ask for how to use software that is (or isn't) included in the various wdlxtv flavours. Questions about software such as rtorrent, NZBGet, sshfs, curlftpfs, ssh, telnet, etc.

Hi dionisios,

My guess is your hard drive isn't properly configured for rtorrent yet.
S92rtorrent: cannot find readable session directory /tmp/rt/rtorrent/.session

Try this:
Through the main wdlxtv web interface click the WDLXTV config button then -> Main -> Early Mounts - Select your HDD then save at the bottom.

You can tell the WDTV to mount a given disk earlier at boot time, which will make it available under /tmp/mnt/ for use by applications such as rTorrent. This is done by creating a .mnt file at the root of the disk/partition.

You may need to reboot now for that mount to happen (not sure... sorry).

Then through web interface again - Main -> Services: Online -> RTORRENT_DIR - click on Display mounted locations

You should now see your drive twice. Once under - Mount point: /tmp/media/usb/ then again under Mount point: /tmp/mnt/

Copy that /tmp/mnt/YOUR-HDD-ID info, close that popup window and paste in the RTORRENT_DIR box. Save changes at the bottom.

Go back to the main web interface and try to start rtorrent again. If it still doesn't work just paste the error you get back here.

wiki has a ton of info too http://wiki.wdlxtv.com/How_to_use_rTorrent

HTH...

If you're looking forward to use magnet links with rtorrent you can save the time for fighting with setup... rtorrent on WDLXTV doesn't support magnet links, AFAIK.
Have a look at transmission.app.bin if you need magnet support.

Hey recliq,

As the guy in the 2nd post on this thread mentioned...
The Google magic 8-ball says: rtorrent 0.8.7 is required...

Unfortunately the included rtorrent version was 0.8.6 so I built this app based on 0.9.2 (hence the name) which is afaik the latest and greatest, well stable anyway. And yes it does support magnet links.

I paste the magnet link into the torrent url box and click Add URL.

This then downloads a meta file which then goes to Completed. I must manually go in then and right click and Force Recheck. It is only then that the torrent downloads.

What am doing wrong? I would expect it to automatically start

Thanks

Hi Pento,

Not sure. I do not have that problem is about all I can say.

I do see it download the .meta file, gets to completed then (it may take a minute) changes to the actual torrent name and starts downloading normally. No extra intervention needed on my part.

The link for the updated app rtorrent-0.9.2.app.bin is down.
Can someone upload the file somewhere else?

Hi Morph,

Firewall problems over there keep bringing the site down. Apparently that will be replaced later today.

Have you managed to get a copy already or do you still need an alternate link?

Hi workingman

Would you mind posting your rtorrent-0.9.2.rc?

Thanks,
