rtorrent and magnet links

probably a dumb question, but is there any support for magnet links in rtorrent - the general trend seems to be away from torrent files (TPB seems to have abandoned them)?
or is the only solution to move to Transmission?

The Google magic 8-ball says: rtorrent 0.8.7 is required, and even yet it's unclear how it works.

Same question here. rtorrent seems to recognize the magnet urls, but then nothing happens. Regular torrent files work fine for me so I don't think it's a networking issue.

Apparently the problems are all due to old xmlrpc-c package which can't deal with numbers larger than 2G.

Will need to compile rtorrent again after I compile a new xmlrpc-c... at least I'm getting lots of practice

Just downloaded my first magnet link from thar PB and it's INCOMING! hot and fast already.. avast ye torrents I be supportin yar magnet links!

No more errors about ratio plugin or weird math probs after cooking up xmlrpc-c from source (http://xmlrpc-c.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/xmlrpc-c/super_stable/?view=tar) I did like the sound of super_stable since I didn't want to have to compile rtorrent a third time (it wanted >1.11 and super stable is 1.16).

I can make an app.bin for you or just send the rtorrent binary and libtorrent.so.14.0.4, whichever you'd prefer. I'm running the ext3-boot version so I just replaced the /usr/bin/rtorrent with mine, stuck libtorrent in /usr/lib and made the appropriate links. Easy peasy lemon squeezy.
