SABnzbd + Sickbeard + Couchpotato Working...Almost

This is the place to ask for how to use software that is (or isn't) included in the various wdlxtv flavours. Questions about software such as rtorrent, NZBGet, sshfs, curlftpfs, ssh, telnet, etc.

I don't see a yenc module for python 2.6. Are you using 2.5?

I would have no idea how to go about doing that.

download it from here and then extract it, have a look at the readme and then follow the instructions bud

http://www.golug.it/pub/yenc/yenc-0.3.tar.gz

gunzip yenc-0.3.tar.gz

which should create a yenc-03.tar file

tar xfv yenc-0.3.tar

cd yenc-0.3
python setup.py build
su
python setup.py install

You may need other supporting packages, but you can find these by analysing the error messages if you have any, make sure that you use the correct version of python when doing the install, ie python26 or 25

Thank you chqshaitan!

Just to document for other people...
ipkg install gcc
export PATH=/opt/bin/:$PATH (for as to be found)

then cd to the extracted yenc dir
and..

/opt/bin/python2.6/ setup.py build
su
/opt/bin/python2.6/ setup.py install

From the SABNZBD logs...
[SABnzbd:453] _yenc module... found!

Thanks for the pointer on this - is there a way to check that yenc is actually installed? I use nzbget instead of sabnzbd so I cant check the startup logs.

yea there is, if you go into the logs directory within the sabnzbd install, and then type the following command

cat sabnzbd.log | grep yenc

If yenc is installed, you will get something along the lines of " _yenc module... found!" displayed, if it aint found, it should say not found.

Ya I saw that, unfortunatley I don't use sabnzbd - I use nzbget with sickbeard (much, much faster) - so I was curious if there was another way to see besides the sabnzbd log.

ah, missed your reference to nzbget in the previous post.

Unfortunately yenc is a plugin for python only, wont help a compiled program like nzbget at all. You wont need it for that though as it will be faster than sab, but with a fraction of the features.

I decided that the speed benefit of nzbget was far outweighed by the features and integration that sab offers.
