Web frontend on HP Touchpad - use remote on interface?

Postby thedude001 » Sat Mar 17, 2012 7:19 am

Is it possible to to use the web frontend on an HP touchpad? I am able to log into the web frontend, but when selecting items such as remote, addin manager, ect. I receive an error stating "Bad Request" Your browser send a request that the server could not understand... I assume it is an issue with the browser on the touchpad. I would love to be able to control my WDLXTV Live from my touchpad. Any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Hasn't this been hacked to run android? If yes, then you can use some of the android apps out there to control the wdtv.
With regards to the error message, please check if you have any messages inside /var/log/apache2/error.log

Yeah, you are able to run android on the touchpad, but to this point I haven't seen a need for it... I haven't seen android in action, so I guess I don't know what I am missing. Regarding any messages in /var/log/apache2/error.log, there isn't anything... The file folder Apache2 doesn't existing under the Log sub-directory...

Ok, I stand corrected... I realized after posting the last response that I had set system logging to a minimum.... I was able to find a file "messages" under that log file that updated after each error on the web frontend issue. Below is the logged message...

2012-03-17T17:17:03.122450Z [361183] webos-device user.debug BrowserServer: getInteractiveNodeRects: see rect with left: 184, top: 223, right: 254, bottom: 252
2012-03-17T17:17:18.214671Z [361198] webos-device user.emerg hidd: changing scan rate to 30 hz
2012-03-17T17:18:23.760090Z [361264] webos-device user.emerg hidd: changing scan rate to 60 hz
2012-03-17T17:18:38.924177Z [361279] webos-device user.emerg hidd: changing scan rate to 30 hz

Doesn't mean anything to me, but any insight would be appreciated. Thanks again

The error.log file I was referring to is on the wdtv. Use telnet/ssh to have a look inside of it. If you can't find it, send back the output of these commands (I take it you can access the webend from other devices in your LAN, right?):
Code: Select all
ls -l /var/log/apache2/error.log
tail /var/log/apache2/error.log
grep APACHE /conf/config
ps | grep apache2

Regarding android - I don't know if your touchpad is fully supported, but in terms of available apps it surely surpasses whatever hp offered. You should have a look. Also, search for android on this forum to see what is available.

Ok, sorry about the confusion.... My error log is very long, and below is the error when I select the remote through the web frontend on my touchpad:

[Mon Mar 19 14:02:07 2012] [error] [client 192.168.1.108] Digest: uri mismatch - does not match request-uri , referer: http://192.168.1.116/

Thanks again for the help.

Hmm, your browser doesn't seem to support HTTP Auth (which is strange, since HTTP AUTH has been around for ages).
You can disable authentication and try again: http://wiki.wdlxtv.com/NoPasswordApache

Ok, so I am a noob with all of this.... I am trying to follow the instructions on the wiki, but an not sure how to create the directory /conf/apache-default as it doesn't exist. I initially tried to do through file manager on the web frontend, but says directory can't be created, then I tried through telnet client, but stated /conf/apache-default doesn't exist to copy to. Where/how should I be editing/creating within the wdlxtv files? Thanks

/conf/apache-default is a file, not a directory. You should run these commands through telnet:
Code: Select all
cp /etc/apache2/sites-available/default /conf/apache-default
chmod a+rw /conf/apache-default

Use the webend file manager to edit the file, as instructed, and then issue these commands:
Code: Select all
touch /conf/S00user-script
chmod a+x /conf/S00user-script
echo '#!/bin/sh
mount -o bind /conf/apache-default /etc/apache2/sites-available/default' > /conf/S00user-script
config_tool -s; config_tool -s
reboot

Yes, I realized that after posting last message... I still get "file is not writable" when trying to edit conf/apache-default in file manager...?
