The WDTV is a UPNP reneder by default. You can use any DLNA API to send playback to the WDTV.

upnp-cmd is a shell script intended to load and play media via DLNA on the WDTV. You can run it via telnet/ssh, or best - use the method above (which will work with stock firmware).

There is any example of source code on the forum?

This feature is the one that I'm waiting for years. If it possible to control WD TV Live via PC.
I Wish to play music in hard-drive without turn on TV.

There was a Webcontrol Addon of Webserver Software for WDTV. I tried it before and cannot
get it work.

Would it be possible to get the same Sheet view on a tablet?
some example for Dune on http://zappiti.com/iphone.html

The idea would be to be able to get (via SMB/... mount?) the sheet info from the browsed folder display it, and then when clicking use the upnp play commands?

Found http://forum.wdlxtv.com/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=4881 which might help realize this

cheers

Hi all,

I'd like to apologise for not replying sooner. Life gets in the way. But I haven't forgotten about this. I just haven't done any more work on the interface since the last post! But my laziness shouldn't stop others from trying stuff I promised to release.

I've uploaded the file to http://dan.who3d.co.uk/files/wdlxtv.zip

I have no idea how to package it as a plugin so if someone wants to do that, by all means.. I have been doing development by actually mounting this directory so the web server can use it.

2 things worth noting..
- Since the upnp-cmd provided on the wdlxtv doesnt work, I have my own modded one in the directory, so it needs execute permission.
- The cache folder needs r/w permissions to store thumbnails and moviesheets. Apart from that, it should work with disks for music and movies. I actually run this against a NAS, but not via twonky - I mount the drive.

I realise this might not be a detailed enough explanation, or enough information for an average user to get the thing working, so feel free to ask questions.

Keen to get feedback. Hopefully people get this thing up and running.

- Dan
