WebControl to browse/play music/movies for WDLXTV-Live?

Have you used fastforward or rewind + next track? Those are different commands than seek right? Do you know their proper syntax off hand? That would work too. My goal is to jump ~10 mins ahead/behind etc...

just a guess, while meta data is discussed in thread above

I'm not sure that it's been implemented yet

and without metadata the seek cmd possibly would not work

again just a guess, I've never had to use the upnp-cmd Seek

Passed meta data and it worked! I passed it for the play, but never tried passing it before the seek too.. I don't understand how the metadata comes into play at all, but its working! Thank You!

I'll I've really done is attempt playback

which has been successful with both using upnp-cmd Play or by calling the Play script

I can't remember which buttons I've particularly tried

but I did notice that when no meta data is used very few keys work, in fact pushing almost any key without metadata will stop playback

when proper meta data is used there's a number of keys that begin to work again, but still not all

at any rate I'm glad you got it working with seek, also might be a good idea to post the cmd's you used so that other can reference what you did

Scenario:
When running play.php which just passes the metadata and the play command. I wasn't able to use the physical remote to do the 10 minute skips anymore.
So now (since i'm using phones/tablets) when a user runs play.php they can then pass a seek time to skip 10 mins or 100 etc..
the pseudo syntax is similar to the play.php:

metaresult = upnp-meta 'filename.avi'
upnp-cmd SetAVTransportURI 'file://filename.avi' 'metaresult'
upnp-cmd Seek 'REL_TIME' 00:10:00

I was referring to /usr/bin/play (Bash script included with firmware)

but again, glad it works

oh, one of the guys in this thread made it. it's part of the music navigator web app. strange i don't have a /usr/bin/play script... i'm running wdlxtv: 0.4.7.3 and base: 1.03.49. maybe that's why? is that play different than upnp-cmd Play? would you mine pasting a snippet?

you don't have that script because you're on an older firmware

very simple script, all it does is sent the 3 upnp-cmd's needed to generate meta and then start playback

if proper meta data is used when setting transport URI

then FF and REW buttons on remote work

@KAD: Does the play script add the correct metadata (or some fake but complete metadata)? If not, this should be considered a bug and /usr/bin/play should be enhanced to generate fake metadata to allow further navigation...

The play script should generate valid meta info based on the given file. In fact it just calls upnp-meta, then sets TransportURI and then starts playback.
