I tried all that was listed on the wiki or the FAQ : it's still not upgrading.

- I tried 4 different usb keys (every of these keys are working for the official updates) on the side usb port (i tried on the back port too)
- Of course my keys are FAT32 formatted
- I use the correct firmware (for my HDTV Live)
- I changed the .ver file
- I unplugged my WDTV Live instead of using the power button

But still, nothing happens. I don't get it but after 2 days of trying to install this firmware, I'm not sure if this still is a good idea ...

Start by telling us some numbers...
- model number
- actual installed firmware version
- wdlxtv version you downloaded
- what you changed in .ver file

Ok, it worked.

The problem was my actual firmware version : it was the official 1.06.15 for Western digital. I downgraded it (I had a backup of the previous official firmware) and XDLXTV has been detected.

The .ver version of XDLXTV wasn't the reason the firmware hasn't been detected because I renamed it like that :

VERSION='1.07.04_V.WDLXTV_LIVE-0.5.1.1' LOCATION='wdtvlive.bin'

So even with the 1.06.15 installed, it should have been detected (no ?).

Now I think I'll read a lot of tutorials on this forum because execpt for the new wallpaper, I can't see any difference between the official firmware and XDLXTV

Hi all
I can´t access my samba shares. I´m using this firmware: 1.05.04_V.WDLXTV_LIVE-0.5.1.1 WDLXTV shows the server, but when trying to access it I get the following message "Das Gerät ist beschäftigt. Bitte versuchen sie es später erneut (The device is busy. Please try again later)" The log-in data was added correctly
The server´s log (Version 3.5.6) shows this although my username is not root.

Code: Select all: check_ntlm_password: Authentication for user [root] -> [root] FAILED with error NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_USER

Also note that the server is a member of a windows domain (Windows 2008R2 DC). All other members of the domain can access the samba shares without problems.
I tried to view the samba log of the WDLXTV, but couldn´t find it.
Any help whatsoever is very welcomed.

Hey guys. So, I'm having some issues all of a sudden playing mkv files on several external hard drives. Basically, whenever I try to play an mkv now, it looks like it tries to play it but I get a black screen and the time bar for the video file says 0:00:00/0:00:00. I am using firmware 1.02.21-5.1.1. I'm using this version because it's needed for a particular moviesheet. This just started occurring today. Yesterday, everything worked just fine. I did NOT change anything in between yesterday and today. I tried the newest WD firmware and the files play just fine. I tried reloading from scratch 1.02.21-5.1.1 but have had no good results. VERY occasionally, I'll be able to play a file but not any more. Anyone have any ideas?

Why don't you read the FAQ before posting?

If the same file plays one day and not the next day the file might be currupt , check the disk on windows host.

Once you played or better tried to play a mkv with compressed headers on 1.02 nothing will play afterwards until you reboot, all known issues, all discussed on the forum in depth.

Cannot see Media Server

WDTV Live Plus running latest custom firmware, network share is set up and working. I installed the Serviio media server today, it can see the WDTV but the WDTV cannot see Serviio. The firewall exceptions are in place per the guide on the Serviio website.

I have searched online for the last couple of hours and cannot find any solution. Hoping someone here can offer some guidance. I don't think this issue is specific to Serviio as I have tried other media servers in the past and the WDTV has never seen them.

Hi there,

if got a strange Problem. I flashed my wdtv gen 2 with the latest Custom Firmware but i cant see Moviesheets. The Problem is that i cant see the Sheet (its just Black) but the movies under it, i mean i can see the Folders in Sheetmode but not the Sheet over it. I changed the S00 Custom File and im using the ThumbGen to make my Moviesheets. Does anyone know the Problem that you can see the folders but not the Sheet over it?

Would be nice if someone could help me (Sorry for my bad English its not my native Language)

I have found that some devices will play .mkv files simply by changing the extension to .avi or other supported extension. Strange, but true. Good luck!

This is an excellent plug-in!
I had no problems at all. Some times I had to search for a good working server but it's OK
No freezes during the streaming of the videos and in many movies the video quality was amazing!
Didn't try to FF/FW while streaming, but I paused/play the movies without freezes or somethin'.

It will be better if somehow, we can load external subtitles (.srt format) for the movies or if it's possible to make the plug-in to search and download a subtitle (any language) for the movie from a sub site! But still the plug-in is great!
Hope to see some tv shows also except from movies!

Another one good plug-in (Thank you noname ) but I have some comments about it...

For the start, I have installed the latest FW WDLXTV to my Live box and download the Icefilms plug-in from the svn via the webend...

Because of the file hosters I noticed that if I start to watch an episode of a tv show (ex. from 180upload) and then I stop it and try to watch something else from the same file hoster, I get the error saying "Unable to play the selected file. Please refer to the user manual for a list of supported formats.".

To the tv-shows section, there are many tv shows they are hosted on rapidshare or similar file hosting service and are not available for streaming but only for download via web and when you go to a show/episode with no streaming hoster there is the message "No valid sources found".
Is there any way to filter that shows/episodes, so I can see only the valid/streamable ones?

Also (I don't know if that, is a config problem from me) the latest tv shows are available in HD.
When I try to play an HD stream I get the msg "Unable to play the selected file. Please refer to the user manual for a list of supported formats.".
I noticed that it's because they are .mkv files. I can stream without problems .avi and .mp4 files but with the .mkv streams I got error msg even if it's SD quality.
How I can play .mkv files from my hard disk but I got errors when I try to stream one from web? It's a problem of config or something else?
IF the mkv streaming is not supported, is possible to filter the HD/SD mkv streams? Cause it's says only "Sx HD" or "Sx DVDRip" without a notice if the file is an mkv or avi/mp4.

A small request:
Except from moves and tv-shows, there are the categories (with streamable videos) "Music" "Stand-Up" and "Other".
It would be great to see -in a next version maybe?- these categories added to the plug in if is that possible of course

I have a similar problem using SABnzbd and SickBeard. My nas isn't powerful enough to run those applications so I run them on my WDTV saving media to the NAS.

I have an ext3 harddrive connected to my NAS mounted via CIFS. Folders created by the WDTV are not visible when I access the network share from a Windows client (Windows Explorer), if I type the path into the address bar though I can open the folder.

being aware of the existence of both the webremote plugin and the wdlxtv remote, I decided to develop an android app that's up for the task and more complete.

The thing that annoys me most about the existing android app is the missing browse-functionality. I want to browse my library quickly and efficiently on my tablet or phone, instead of using the very inefficient OSD. Having a large number of files and no keyboard and/or filtering options, over time, this starts to suck

I figured, the existing android app is not going to support browsing any time soon, because this needs additional information not provided in an out-of-the-box wd(lx)tv installation. The Application is of course going to be free and I'd like your support and input anyways, and of course any information on wether somebody is already on this or not I would much rather help out with an existing project than build my own from scratch. So if anybody is already doing what I am about to start, please let me know

Concept

I want it of course to be full-featured. offer a search/filter function and in my case replace the existing app. It would of course be a lot nicer if the existing app would just support the browsing-service that I am about to implement, so nobody needs to install a new app. But if nobody is interested in that, I am just going to build a new one.

So, why am I writing this. You can see, I want a fancy meta-data serving fulll-featured touch-screen remote control for my wdtv player

Does anybody know, if there Is an existing API already offering the information I need? I need a service, that offers the following information in decent XML or any other easily readable format.

That's it so far. The result would be amazing, and once the service exists, people can start developing iPad and iPhone Apps for that too.

Let me know if any of you already started such a thing or if anyone has any more ideas, features, criticism, whatever. I know that 90% of what I described already exists, but I really want the listing on my mobile device, and not on-screen. webremote is way too slow and buggy, doesn't really work for me, and you know the flaws of the Android app.

So. Any ideas are welcome

Hi Guys,

I have tried to install SABnzbd+ on my WDTV Live.
Everything got installed the only problem is the Autostart script i just cant get it to work.

When i run the following command from the script its working:

Otherwise replace it with /bin/bash.

I dont have /opt/bin/bash nor /bin/bash.

When i run /opt/etc/init.d/S89SABnzbd it says

Bash: /opt/etc/init.d/S89SABnzbd: /bin/bash: bad interpreter: No such file or directory

Did some searching with find / -name bash -print
/usr/bin/bash

so change the script to /usr/bin/bash/ chmod it again but when it try to run it i get -sh: /opt/etc/init.d/S89SABnzbd: Permission denied

lol made a misstake with chmod used -x but had to be +x
So mine bash was at /usr/bin/bash

Cannot get individual episode information from thetvdb

I am assuming something has changed with the api for thetvdb as I tried older versions of ThumbGen and the issue still exists.
